4 down already for the day. As the next match has people on both sides, we will be at least 2 more down. The end is nigh...

I like this new site. :) A big thanks to everyone who put in the effort to keep this site and game going. It's much appreciated, and good luck to the last ones standing.

I think I played my first suicide pool in 2008 and have shown up faithfully ever since. Only two medals to show for it on the old site, so I'm thrilled to get this far. I look forward to these almost as much as watching the matches themselves. And thanks to Su-Wei Hsieh too for snatching victory from the jaws of defeat against Errani and keeping me alive. Another reason to love that woman.

Three young women, murdered in plain sight. In broad daylight, and with no signs of foul play. But murder it was; how else to explain their demise? What sadistic person had decided to murder them like that, as if nothing?
The first one was an Ukrainian. In reality, what was Upper Crimea. That was a clue. Everybody knew that women from Crimea were always targets for the Russian human trafficking mafias, and this girl was rather on the beautiful side. Had she declined to participate in some of the trafficking? Did she have information? What about her murderer? Another young woman, this time from America, but that was not looking at the details. Her last name told it all: Pegula, a long forgotten family that in reality had gone underground in their dark dealings and now hid their activities under the façade of legitimacy by running a major sports corporation or, rather, ring. The Svitolina girl had also been toyed with, giving her the false hope that she could survive, but that was not to be. And, the tattoo in her thigh also provided with a further understanding of what had happened: a stylized tiger surrounded by beads, the symbol of the House of GRRRR, the rivals of the Russians. In short, Svitolina was in, deep, into the trafficking business, either as puppet or puppeteer. No doubt of that.
What about the Croatian girl? Again, human trafficking? One could tell that she had been warned as she had lesions on her right knee, a favored form of punishment of the Croats. Knee caps and needles under the fingernails, that was their signature. And the American that had killed her had close ties to the Pegula girl; they had left coded messages for each other: “C U Next Round, JenB”, wrote Pegula, and Brady replied “Bring it on, Jess”. Next round, bring it on. Coded messages to tell each other “get ready for more of this”. A terrible omen that this murderous spree was not over, that there would be more girls either killed or abducted for the trade. The Vekic girl had had no chance; young, beautiful, tall, exactly the type favored by the traffickers. It had been swift and that was a message. The traffickers were behind this and any girl that would fight would be dealt with. Appropriately.
The last girl. A Belgium. A country famous for money laundering and a strategic location to pander the young women to men of wealth, men that felt safe behind the regulations of the West. They knew it and they enjoyed it: trafficking these young East European girls for the riches of the West. But this girl was Belgium. What had happened? Could it be a case of mistaken identity? Her opponent was Czech, another favored target in the business, so could it have been that the assassins were wrong, they targeted the wrong girl? It would be hard to tell; the Muchova girl had vanished, quickly, going away down a tunnel. She obviously knew too much and one had to wonder: would she be next? If she were to surface, would somebody also target her? Kill her?
The Australian Open. One large conspiracy to trade young women simply because of their looks, to be abducted for the perverted desires of the wealthy. All done under the bright lights, in the open. What better way to hide this trafficking operation that to do it so openly that everybody would suspect nothing? Something had to be done before the next victims would fall. Most likely, tonight.

You and I need to sit down, and learn to watch matches in silence.
Congrats on your medal

.....PFFFTTTTT, You fell right into Gacritter's and my diabolical plots all along! HAVE we learn nothing from Suliso?!?! :gorgeous:

Alternate post: Congrats Gacritter!!!! I'm actually glad that we won this way. (AND it'd have been cool if spencerlee could have joined us with a medal. Crazy getting this far with this mess of a tournament.) I otherwise was gonna have to (....kinda sorta, mind you....) root for you to win the medal. I think it's time for Serena to at least tie She Who Shall Not Be Named.
