Re: Tennis Players Random, Random 2.0
Roger created a monster with this 'personal logo' stuff.
I think it's all rather ridiculous, personally. I know there's money to be made with it (as if these players need MORE money)... really, though, it's just one more way to stroke an ego.
But if you're going to do it, at least wait until you get into the top 10 - or even top 5.

I think that Tiger predated Roger with his logo.
And you must remember how Adidas made "logos" for both Lendl and Edberg that were sort of hidden in the design of the shirts. I liked Edberg's, Lendl's was a bit too High School for me.

Re: Tennis Players Random, Random 2.0
Yeah, maybe Tiger was first... and it spilled over to Roger because both with Nike...
Yes, I remember Edberg and Lendl. But that was pretty much just the design on some shirts that incorporated their initials. And it was just temporary.
Today, it's pure branding. Might as well do it with a hot iron.
Edberg and Lendl were both top 5 players, also. This is quite premature for Sinner.
Besides, any logo for Sinner should include a Bible and a Devil, no?

Tiger? I mean yeah. But you missed a biggie in the logo discussion that predates both, that they were both modeled after...
I'm pulling your NBA fan card for a week for this. No Jazz, Nuggets or Spurs games for you all week!

I was thinking Jordan, but it's a silhouette, not his initials.

What Skating says. I did not include Jordan because it was a silhouette.
There are plenty of logos around. My favorite is Kawhi's. In tennis, I have to admit that I think the best if Nole's. Simple and elegant.
And Ok, I will be grounded after I finish this Jazz/Suns game

It's a logo that is synonymous with him. Sold on every bit of merchandise Nike could think of. The Nike logo push for Tiger and Roger is based off of Jordan and no one else.
You're absolutely still grounded @ponchi.

I was also wondering: are there any WTA players with a logo? The closest I can think of is Venus' ELEVEN, and that is more her brand, not her directly. Does Serena have a logo? She should, being with Nike. Naomi? I know her shoes at the Aussie had a small Japanese figure, but I can't recall a logo.

Quick search for MARTINA NAVRATILOVA LOGO comes up blank. I don't recall it.

I don't think many of the women are that hung up on the logo thing. Benchwarmers in the NBA are coming up with logos at the moment. It's a thing right now. I assume that's why Jannik is "finally" doing one.
Ash Barty has a logo, it's new, something someone came up with for her in 2021. And Eleven is Venus' logo. You're applying more rules to this than is required. RF is a brand too, just one that Nike created. Part of what is funny about Jannik "finally" coming up with a logo and these benchwarmers doing it, is that it's not for much, it may be down the line, but right now, doesn't appear to be some moneymaker, just planning ahead I guess.
Also, you're saying Kawhi is your favorite, but you discounted MJ's logo, meanwhile, Kawhi's logo is a creative hand that identifies him but that is still stylized into a claw/klaw and was superimposed over MJ's logo on the Jordan shoe for Kawhi. Like I said, applying too many rules to this. A logo is a logo. If it is associated with one person, it's a personal logo. MJ's logo is of him, doesn't get much more personal than that.

This is a bit unfortunate, coming at a time where their tech is being use more not less. I don't get the fox thing for Jannik.
