They should put a Cheesecake Factory right in the middle, and then all the players will want to move in.

For context: Unlike Montreal, they did a player survey awhile back as to their favorite tournament venues, and Cincinnati was one of the top stops, mainly due to its proximity to a Cheesecake Factory.

Based on last year, and reputation, this court is fast, even faster than the USO .expect Pegula, Paolini, Gauff, Bencic to do well.. Those will not like the conditions - Anisimova, Krejcikova, Ostapenko, Kostyuk..they all need a little more time to hit their shots, and arent particularly quick on their feet.

QF lineup likely: (by my reckoning)

Sabalenka vs Rybakina
Swiatek vs Alexandrova
Kessler vs Bencic/Tauson
Osaka vs Gauff

all look like good matches.. looking forward to them.
Third quarter looks the hardest to call, with Pegula, Tauson and Bencic all present..i certainly think it will be Bencic..simply because her style suits a fast surface..
Sabalenka may not even get there, has to beat Leylah, may not do it.

Alcaraz is a puzzle...last year he did nothing here, nothing at the USO...complained about the court speed..

Pegula seems a bit off lately too..since Berlin..wonder what is wrong. I can no longer rely on her as the benchmark...

Did anyone else just see the... meltdown?... by Collins after losing the first two points of the second set tiebreaker against Townsend? She had lost the first set and was down 0-2 in the breaker when she just started wailing either at herself or someone in the crowd or something... Really bizarre.

It threw Taylor off for a second.. She immediately threw in a double before getting her head together and winning the breaker 7-2--and thus the match.

Really odd. Really, really odd. I missed everything before that, so perhaps I missed some earlier match history.

After it was over, Collins left the court without her gear.

Medvedev did the same thing in Toronto.
