Pegula is now 2-6, 6-0 against Siniakova.. any thoughts on why these wild swings happen? I have, but will wait to hear from others first..

I had the match on (in the background) last night and Siniakova started getting hot/tired and making more mistakes as it went on. I missed the first set but Pegula said after she just calmed down and relaxed after the first set.

Pegula has punched her ticket to the YEC with today’s win, and Paolini has bypassed Rybakina for 8th place

wonder what is wrong with Swiatek.. a string of surprising losses - first Navarro, now Paolini (whom she had beaten some 6 times in a row).. is she just tired? I keep thinking her topspin is not as effective on hard courts, but she did win Cincy after all...so I dont know.

Must be some health or motivation issues behind it.

rewatched the highlights of Cincy.. Paolini gave her a good fight there too.. it was not easy...

Or there is something that the players have noticed and they have partially figured her out.
I mean, her year has been a success; Wimby and Cincy are two very big wins. But her consistency is not the same.
I don't mind her losing to Paolini; Paolini is a fighter and she can win wars of attrition. But the loss to Navarro was very odd. I love Emma but she has no weapons to speak of. The kind of player that Iga used to have for breakfast.

Swiatek has shown a fairly predictable pattern since late last year of folding if her usual strategy of relentlessly hitting the ball downward for winners isn’t working. If you can withstand the early barrage, you’ve got a good chance.

Even with the service woes, Coco defends her China points from last year.

She is a mystery. Will go without playing any good matches for weeks. Then wins a 1000.

and her forehand wasnt much better... her strength seems to be the ability to shake them off when it matters..
