To beat Swiatek, you have to push her onto her back foot...only Rybakina has been able to do that consistently, and sometimes Sabalenka...Coco threw away the first set with dfs..had only 4 in the match, though, which is good
Ostapenko is capable as well. But she is too inconsistent to get many chances to play Iga.

given that Rome is slower than Madrid, true red clay etc., Iga will get enough time to get onto the front foot against Sabalenka.. quite likely to win more easily than she did at Madrid.. even a bagel or breadstick?

Rome is slower than Madrid, true. But still a bit faster than RG. Sampras managed to win Rome. And recently Medvedev and Rybakina. Sabalenka will not be breadsticked, I'm almost sure. In fact I think it will be very competitive again. Chances are 60-40 Swiatek.

yes, a bit rash of me to talk about bagels and breadsticks, since scores are seldom that easy to predict.. you can have a really close bagel set and a not-so-close tiebreaker too. let me leave it at saying Swiatek will win more easily than she won Madrid..I think Sampras wining the Italian is certainly an outlier, and even Medvedev beat only Rune, not such a great player anyway, last year. Agassi has won this title more than once, I think, but he has won the French also. The really surprising one was Arias, beating Higueras..

IMO beating Tsitsipas and Zverev were more significant than Rune during his last year title run.

Arias grew up playing a lot in Florida, and on Har Tru. He knew how to slide.

Indeed, it was much easier in Rome for Iga. MS title #10 and no sets lost.
For sure a heavy favorite to win her 5th GS title in few weeks.

2 and 3 is not a blowout but still, easier than Madrid, as I predicted..

She is becoming a Nadal in clay. It is news when she loses, not when she wins.
Anything short of the title in Paris and it will be failure.
