Jennifer Hegseth is not a Defense Department employee but has taken an unusually active role for a spouse in Pentagon affairs, appearing at some official meetings.
I would like to know if SecDef was at the meetings his wife attended.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem’s bag, including $3,000 in cash, is stolen from DC restaurant
By Josh Campbell and Kit Maher, CNN
Updated 2:40 PM EDT, Mon April 21, 2025

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem fell victim to a thief while eating dinner at a downtown Washington, DC, restaurant Sunday night, the secretary confirmed Monday.

Noem, who was asked about the theft at the White House Easter Egg Roll, acknowledged the incident and said the matter has not been resolved.

The Secret Service, which provides security for Noem, reviewed security camera footage at the Capital Burger restaurant and saw an unknown white male wearing a medical mask steal her bag and leave the restaurant, a law enforcement source said.

The thief got away with Noem’s driver’s license, medication, apartment keys, passport, DHS access badge, makeup bag, blank checks, and about $3,000 in cash.

The Secret Service has launched an investigation to trace any use of Noem’s financial instruments, the person added.

“Her entire family was in town including her children and grandchildren – she was using the withdrawal to treat her family to dinner, activities, and Easter gifts,” a DHS spokesperson said.

CNN’s Priscilla Alvarez contributed to this report.

I'm sorry but who carries $3k in cash? Who carries cash these days? Didn't she have a credit card she could use to pay for the restaurant? If that had been a black or brown person caught carrying that kind of cash they'd be on their way to El Salvador.

Just saying...

Credit card payments are easy to track for the IRS. Cash is harder.
And some people simply do not like to carry cards and other modern financial tools that leave a trace. You know, she may have had a date with Jive Miguel later that night.
(Just joking)

Not just her entire family being there, but it was for "activities", dinner, and EASTER GIFTS FOR CHILDREN. CHILDREN!!! Oh the humanity.....

To be honest I knew that there was no way he saw all of that pageantry when he was awake and didn't think he should be getting the same treatment.

SCOOP: A young man with no government experience who hasn’t even finished his undergrad degree is working for Elon Musk’s DOGE at the Department of Housing and Urban Development and has been tasked with using AI to rewrite the agency’s rules and regulations.

Chris Sweet—who two sources have been told is the lead on the AI deregulation project for the entire administration—has produced a spreadsheet with ~1000 rows of policy areas where the AI flagged that HUD may have “overreached” and suggesting replacement language.

Image

His title is “special assistant,” although an email written by a DOGE staffer and widely shared within HUD states that “a better title might be ‘Al computer programming quant analyst.’”

The title shared in that email made little sense to at least one HUD staffer.

One HUD source said Sweet’s effort was redundant because the agency was already “put through a multi-year multi-stakeholder meatgrinder before any rule was ever created” because of the Administrative Procedure Act.

U.S. government made New England Patriots team plane fly to Guantánamo Bay
Story by Nick O'Malley, masslive.com

The New England Patriots team planes are used for a whole lot more than just moving players around – often in praise-worthy moves.

They’ve helped other teams travel to championship games and delivered over 1 million face masks as part of early COVID-19 response.

But this week, flight records showed that one of the planes made a trip to one of the most controversial destinations possible: the U.S. naval base at Guantánamo Bay in Cuba.

According to public flight records, the Patriots team plane registered N36NE traveled from Fort Worth, Texas to Guantánamo Bay and left a few hours later.

The Patriots team planes are operated by a charter company called Omni Air and are often chartered for other uses. When asked about the flights to Guantánamo, a Kraft Sports + Entertainment spokesperson told WBUR that Omni Air “uses the Patriots planes as part of their inventory when chartering to the Department of Defense to move military personnel.”

“The New England Patriots organization is not involved in, nor does it approve, sanction, or coordinate the uses of the aircrafts when they are chartered for non-team purposes,” the spokesperson added.

The base at Guantánamo Bay is one of the most infamous military facilities operated by the United States government. It is best known as the site where the U.S. government held suspected terrorists.

Guantánamo Bay has become a hot-button topic once again as a detention facility to hold deportees removed from the country under sweeping immigration arrests under the direction of President Donald Trump.

Kraft and Brady's association with that thing in DC has made me an ex-Patriots fan.
