I don't get the WTA. They haven't put out an OoP for tomorrow presumably because there is a match still being played.
Meanwhile in Toronto Fritz is playing Shelton and they put out an OoP using either or for tomorrow's Finals.

Clara Tauson gave her a run for her money but Naomi Osaka wins their match 6-2, 7-6(7). She'll face Victoria Mboko in the Final.

I dont expect Osaka to lose to mboko now.. Rybakina did, but Osaka seems to have recovered her champions mindset

I am too lazy to look up her third set record. But I believe it has to be appalling.

I dont think there is any problem with her third set record, Rybakina does win a lot of 3 setters.. but not against good players, when she is pressed... when her opponent raises her game, Rybakina cannot.

Wanted to check your prediction. It ended up being a bit mixed.ashkor87 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 02, 2025 2:00 amSo far so good..all as expected/predictedashkor87 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 28, 2025 7:25 am this court is rated significantly slower than average.. look for Anisimova, Swiatek, even Rybakina to do well here..Rybakina and Anisimova needa little more time to hit their shots, and neither is the quickest mover out there.. Swiatek is.. Swiatek... not clear how Coco will do, didnt do all that well at IW, where the court was slow, but did do well at RG, so who knows.. her game is adaptable enough..though I still think she will do better at Cinci than here, because the court there is significantly faster.
Rybakina did well, indeed. Losing in the SFs is not a bad result. Anisimova and Swiatek should have done better, especially Amanda. That loss to Svitolina, with that court, was no good.
Coco's loss will need time to be explained. If Mboko goes on to become a top 10 player in a relatively short time, it will be understandable. If she is a flash in the pan, well, this will be harder to accept.
The hard art of forecasting. Especially in the WTA.

Coco and Kessler did beat the current world #1 doubles player to take the title this week, so not all negative for Gauff.

Naomi has nothing to be ashamed of. She and her new coach seem like a good fit and I think he will have her ready for the US Open.
Both Naomi and Victoria started out nervous in the third set but Mboko recovered first and after Naomi hit a ball out in frustration the match was Victoria's who romped 6-1 in the third set.
For those going to the US Open good luck getting to see her play live because they'll be hanging from the rafters. The US Open has a tendency to underestimate the fan interest in players like Mboko and put them on smaller outside courts. The year Shapo beat Rafa in Canada they put him on Court 7 for his first match in the new configuration and they were sitting on the steps since the stands were full, a very dangerous situation.
I wonder what practice courts they'll assign her to and where they'll place her in the draw.
I also hope that Victoria sticks with the mostly female team she's with now.

Osaka pretty ungracious in that loss, especially after she tanked the end of that match. She’s one of my favorites, but that ain’t it, pig.

It also makes me feel a little bit less sympathy for her over Serena’s histrionics in their US Open final, as she just did her best to take away Mboko’s joy of winning a big event for the first time
