Chanda is calling the match.

There were nerves - three double faults in that game - but she takes the first set. Iga leaves the court to change her kit it looks like.

Great call ponchi! I was too hesitant... Hard to see a way back for Iga in this one.

Chanda said that Iga is getting to the balls but doesn't have much behind her returns. The first set stats are a bit of a surprise.

Iga has to recalibrate her returns. She is trying to hit winners of all serves, and missing too much. And then, gets frustrated and the cycles closes.

Meanwhile Rafa has lost the first set. Also a bit surprising.

A lot of very hard hit FH's from Tiafoe are landing in, and he is pushing Rafa all over. With Tiafoe, the thing is: how long can he keep that up?

Probably not very long, but then again reminds me of a match with Lukas Rosol.

Which Rafa lost, right? And Tiafoe looks very focused, which is very good for him.
He is not celebrating more than one fist pump. After that, he is back in the match.

The best match of the year was Kyrgios-Tiafoe in Wahington. Kyrgios saved match points in the second set tiebreak and Tiafoe went away in the third set. His staying power definitely is a question.

Niemeier has double faulted herself into a corner. She's down 2-0 in the third set.

Iga is not playing the best tennis of the tournament by far. But this is a good example of champions winning they aren’t playing their best. Chanda pointed out that Swiatek’s intensity hasn’t dipped. That contributes to pressure on the opponent and helps them crack.

Not over but Jule would have to find something special now.
