So the #1, 2, and 3 seed all lost their first match in doubles. 4 has yet to play.

Medvedev lost yesterday and now Alcaraz today.

I thought the craziness was supposed to occur in the WTA finals :-)

Sinner won easily, though. Indoor hard courts is clearly a weakness for Alcazar. Same as it was for Nadal.

It's so easy to mix up a tennis player and a castle :)

The way Carlitos grabbed at his quad when getting out of the limo for the blue carpet walk made me think he's injured. That's why I'm surprised but not surprised at this outcome.

watching the highlights clip, increasingly becoming clear that Alcaraz' top spin doesnt work well on hard courts.. his shots, and serve, just sit up and beg to be hit.. and his servce return is not great either..

DeMinaur is basically eliminated now, lost two out of two.. Sinner and Fritz then? the other group is more iffy now - if not Alcaraz, who? Zverev will probably make it.. Ruud was impressive against Alcaraz- can he do it again and best Rublev? Should be able to...
interesting that Ruud is doing well here.. hasnt done that great this year, very inconsistent.

If Fritz wins next match, or Sinner wins and Fritz gets one set then yes DeMinaur is out. He needs a straight set Sinner win to stay alive.

Fritz wins group if he wins this afternoon.

If 3 players in a group will go 1-2, what is the next breaker: total sets won, or sets won in the matches between them, excluding the ones that they all lost to the group winner?

if three people tie at 1-2, it will be best set % (not just sets won) in all matches, which will not just include head to head sets among tie breakers. If still tied will go to games won-lost %. So De Minaur needs to win in straight sets, and needs Medvedev to lose in straight sets as well - and have the best game % among the three. Given he is -11 and the others all positive he needs to win in straight sets and by at least 7 or 8 games.

Right now in this group everyone is still alive and no one has advanced. Sinner would just need to win a set, or have Fritz not win in straight sets, to make it without worrying about games won.

Also noticed, if three people tie at 2-1, and one has the best set % (or game %) they get first. It then actually goes to head to head between the other two tied people.

For example...if Fritz and Medvedev both win 2-1 on Thursday - Sinner gets first for best set % then it goes to head to head between Fritz and Medvedev (which Fritz gets.) If Fritz and Medvedev both win 2-0 then we have a three way tie in set %, so it goes to game % for first, and then head to head for second spot.

And if all three are equal in sets and games somehow, it goes to the highest ranked player.
