Time for the second half of the sunshine double, Miami kicks off Tuesday! It is another 1000 level event for both the WTA and ATP.

Coverage will be on Tennis Channel/T2, with streaming on TC Plus and Tennis TV once again. Matches will start 11am Eastern Time and go throughout the day and into the night!

Results here will be much more random than IW...the adjustment to conditions, the level of competition, the elation of some, the disappointment of others ..certainly don't expect Andreeva, Rune, Draper to be in the finals! Anisimova, Medvedev, Tsitsipas may do well..I wonder about defending champion Collins..
I am hoping for the return of Osaka and Zverev...

Zverev being seeded 1 at all these tournaments feels a little silly. (I know the rankings dictate it, but no one's pegged him to win anything since his S. American mess.)

true, but given that there has been no real reason for it, it could be just a passing thing..

just watched the video of last year's final - court looks significantly faster than IW.. not just faster.
Beginning to doubt Anisimova, Swiatek can do well this year here.. Medvedev will, so will Bencic. Bencic is 28-1 on the betting sites.. looks like a steal to me (unfortunately I cant bet)

Problem to me is: who is playing "well"? Agree, Zverev is not playing well to be seeded #1 at a yatzee tournament. But it is not as if Alcaraz is running the table, Medvedev is re-surging, the RU's are playing supreme tennis (Ruud, Rublev, Rune). The tour is going where I said it was going to go (I am sorry,I know that sounds very arrogant): everybody is at about the same level, with the exception of Sinner, at the moment.
Sure, Alcaraz won Rotterdam and is 15-3 for the year. And yet, it feels a bit flat.

'Anyone can win' just isn't so..can basavareddy win? Bublik? Arnaldi? Dolehide? There are at most 10 people who can actually win Any given tournament.

Which is 7 more than what we were used to...
And the #12 seed just lost to the #13 seed at IW. So, maybe it is more than 12.

When we say anyone can win we of course mean 10-15 players can win, not all 96 of course!

Just for women I'll eat my hat if the winner is not from this group: Sabalenka, Collins, Zheng, Rybakina, Gauff, Haddad Maia, Osaka, Samsonova, Paolini, Navarro, Noskova, Anisimova, Andreeva, Shnaider, Pegula, Keys, Ostapenko, Badosa, Muchova, Bencic, Svitolina and Swiatek. That's an extended group of 22, but even some of these are super unlikely.

But another thing we must consider. It is not only who can and will win any given tournament. You cannot measure parity just that way. It is also who can upset who. We have seen Zverev having a miserable S. American (and now N. American) tour. He has been "upset" again and again. But, has he? It does not feel that way.
So, for a player like Fonseca, who did not win the Aussie, his win over Medvedev was a very good one, and should count as a good tournament for him.
A bit of my point is: nobody goes out there with three games in his pocket already before the first ball has been struck, like R/R/N used to.
