looking forward to seeing how osaka does, and Andreeva too..Mirra needs a strong showing now to justify the hype. Mboko also needs to do well here.

Mboko is still too young to "have to do well" anywhere. And Mirra's poor showing of late are the normal hiccups of almost all players.
This is not a generation of Steffi's, Monica's and Serena's, arriving and establishing themselves at the top in an immovable way. These players will take time.

now that I have watched some of the highlights, the court looks a bit faster than medium-paced.. a tad slower than the USO, perhaps, but not much. Doesnt change the prognostication too much - I expect Leylah, Coco, Muchova to do well - better than Mertens (who is already out), Navarro, Pegula - Bencic is very versatile, she may do ok, we shall see.
Anisimova is playing very well, she may even win this whole thing..the court is just about right for her.

Mboko will only be adding points for the next 10+ months--she bought herself a year on tour to prove that she's legit with her Canada results.

Andreeva is still recovering from a pretty serious ankle roll--she looked slow af in her US Open loss despite opinions to the contrary. I also still don't think her shot selection is at an elite level, although it has improved considerably under Conchita's eye.
