by Togtdyalttai Here's the place to brag up your losers when they stink it up as bad as some fancy French cheese and to sulk when they instead play as sweet as the aroma of a crêpe on the Roland Garros grounds. A pick tracker will be up after the start of main draw play and will be updated daily in the best case, and the scoreboard will be updated after each round.

by Togtdyalttai A pick tracker has been posted: contests/ycwj/2021-FO-YCWJ-Pick-Tracker.htm. Please check that I have entered your picks correctly and let me know if I haven't.

by dave g I hope that everyone is remembering that the goal for this contest is to create a four-way tie for first place. ;)

by ponchi101 If you say so...

by Ribbons Tog, I love the YET TO PLAY designation!

by Ribbons Also, LOL van de Zandschulp

I didn't (*), but he sure was popular.

That said, LOL me. Three of my four WTA picks have won, and the fourth is favored by the bookies.

* I've noticed that the wooden spoons are almost always players I've heard of.
Pity I didn't apply that pseudo-logic to Alcaraz as well.

by GlennHarman Tog, Do you have some inside information? I don't even know how a perfect first round is possible!!!!!

GH

by ponchi101 It has happened several times. 20 pristine points, by players with an inordinate sense of smell to detect putridness at great distance.

by GlennHarman But I, for one, have never managed to perfect that sense. This time I was 50/50....oh well, I've done far worse. GH

You know how many times I've won this contest, right? :P

Also, there has even been someone to get a perfect second round after a perfect first round. I'd be willing to bet I won't replicate that.

by Togtdyalttai Over half of the contestants scored at least 15 out of the possible 20 points in the first round. Ktothem1 and Togtdyalttai earned a perfect 20. Federex and Tolulops are only one point behind. We'll see who can keep it up as the contest progresses.

by texasniteowl Well, of my 6 remaining players...one is already a dead end. Cocciaretto lost to Bogdan but now Bogdan goes through due to the Naomi situation. So I'm down to 5 remaining players...

by ponchi101 Yep, did even worse than if I had picked at random. 3 picks left. What a joke.

by Togtdyalttai Another contest run, another failure to win for me. After losing a pick due to Osaka's withdrawal, I lost four of my seven remaining today. So much for a good start.

by ponchi101 Whomever invented this contest should be sh... :ax ;)
Ok, not really. But with the current parity in the WTA and the incoming one in the ATP, predicting winning and losers is becoming some sort of AI test.

by Togtdyalttai Both of the players who scored a perfect 20 in the first round, ktothem1 and Togtdyalttai, fell sharply off in the second. Neither remains in the top 4. Instead, Charlie02123 is now in first with 33, followed one back by Tolulops. Federex and tenedab share third with 28.

While the second round was tough for some, we can at least take heart in the fact that all players have eclipsed double digits and all still have at least one pick remaining.

by texasniteowl Yes! I am not the only down to just one pick left! Hey Ribbons! Let's party!

by Togtdyalttai Charlie02123 and Tolulops continue to lead, though both lost a few picks. Ktothem1 and patrick are the only contestants with more than 2 picks remaining going into the second week, and no one scored more than 7 points in the third round (Charlie02123 and PeterSkan were the two to do that).

The battle for the bottom is surprisingly heated this far into the contest, with four contestants still alive. Even more surprisingly, one of those I mentioned earlier, patrick, is one of the contenders. Also vying for the contest's wooden spoon are CyborgShoes, ptmcmahon, and Ribbons.

by Togtdyalttai Different round, same story: Charlie02123 and Tolulops remain at the top of the leaderboard. Charlie lost a pick, while Tolulops did not. PeterSkan posted the best score of the round again, but remains 9 back of the lead.

Ribbons has clinched the wooden spoon of the contest with a respectable 13 points.

by ponchi101 13 points for the wooden spoon of the wooden spoons is a truckload.
I got 18. Might as well pick the top 4 seeds of each side at Wimby and score 20 points in the first round and zero from then on. I would still score more.

by ptmcmahon Well you would've only gotten at most 19 at RG (Thiem lost) - and I bet if you do that at Wimby you won't get 20 either :)

by Togtdyalttai The leaderboard after the quarterfinals remains unchanged. However, both Charlie02123 and Tolulops lost their remaining picks. Charlie02123 can still win the medal though. Let's run through the scenarios, which have been simplified by the fact that no contestant has a women's pick remaining:

Charlie02123 will win if Zverev or Tsitsipas wins the men's title.

PeterSkan will capture the little spoon icon if Zverev loses in the men's final.

Jazzyg will finish at the top if Tsitsipas loses in the men's final.

That's it! No 3-way ties, no dependencies on who both finalists are, and only two matches left to determine the winner.

by Togtdyalttai After the semifinals, it's Charlie02123 vs. jazzyg. The former will win if Stefanos Tsitsipas defeats Novak Djokovic, and the latter if Djokovic defeats Tsitsipas in the men's final. This is because Charlie is currently in the lead, while jazzyg's pick of Gilles Simon is still alive in the race for the wooden spoon. The pick is shared by five other contestants.

Weefunk also has a pick remaining: Dusan Lajovic, who will take home the spoon if Tsitsipas wins his first slam.

On the women's side, Petra Martic will have earned last place if Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova wins the title, and Laura Siegemund will be the ultimate loser if Barbora Krejcikova is victorious.

by PeterSkan I had a good chance if Zverev had pulled off the comeback, but not at all sad that he didn't ...

Go Tsitsipas!

by Togtdyalttai Jazzyg has won the 2021 French Open edition of You Can't Win Jack! A final scoreboard and pick tracker can be found here. A recap will subsequently be posted in a separate thread.
