This might be the first time I hear about a female shooter.

Shooter had three guns with her, according to law enforcement

By Perry Stein
The 28-year-old-shooter at the private Nashville grade school had three guns with her when she killed at least three children and three adults, according to authorities.

A law enforcement official, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss an ongoing investigation, said the weapons included two semiautomatic rifles, with at least one of the rifles identified as an AR-15-style weapon.

And it won't be the last, thanks to the unceasing sensationalistic news coverage of these things, which undoubtedly and incessantly plants the seed in the heads of the troubled and disturbed persons who are capable of doing such things.
Sigh...

The Covenant School is a small academy housed at a Presbyterian church.

The Covenant School in Nashville is a small, private Christian school, with an enrollment of around 200 students in preschool through sixth grade.

The school is “intentionally small” with an emphasis on relationships, according to its website, and the school boasts a teacher-to-student ratio of 8-to-1. Tuition costs around $16,000 a year.

The school was founded in 2001 as a ministry of the Covenant Presbyterian Church, according to the school’s website. The two share a location.

Even as school shootings become more frequent, the shooting at Covenant was unusual on several counts.

Many of the highest-profile school shootings in recent years have taken place at public schools, in part because there are far more public schools in the United States: Nearly 100,000, compared to about 30,000 private schools.

Shootings at elementary schools are also relatively uncommon, making up less than 20 percent of all incidents of gun violence on school grounds, according to the K-12 School Shooting Database. Most incidents of gun violence on school campuses, including active shooter incidents, happen at high schools.

And it is not typical for a female shooter to carry out school shootings. The typical perpetrator is a white man in his teens or early 20s.

Still, the shooting in Nashville was just one of several instances of gun violence on school campuses in the last week alone. A 16-year-old was fatally shot last Monday morning before classes began at a high school in Arlington, Texas. On Wednesday, a 17-year-old student shot two administrators and later killed himself in Denver.

While those involved fewer than four victims and so were not considered mass shootings, “every one of these incidents has a profound impact on everyone involved in the entire school shooting, and they are happening, like, every day,” said David Riedman, the researcher behind the K-12 School Shooting Database, which tracks gun incidents on school grounds and has found campus gun violence to be increasing in frequency.

More than 270 people were fatally shot or wounded in shootings on school grounds last year, compared to 159 in 2018, the year of the school shooting in Parkland, Fla., according to the database.

My understanding is that The Boomtown Rats' "I don't like Mondays" (a song) was written after a girl shot down her classroom.
But, I am with you. I can't remember another such instance in which the shooter was a woman.

What we know about the shooting suspect

By Perry Stein, Holly Bailey, Maham Javaid and Ben Brasch
The shooter was 28-year-old Nashville area resident Audrey Hale, Nashville Police Chief John Drake said during a news conference Monday.

He said Hale had attended the Covenant School at some point but was unsure when.

Drake said Hale had a handgun along with two AR-style weapons, one being a rifle and the other an “AR-style pistol.”

Drake said he did not remember whether Hale was wearing body armor during the shooting.

Don Aaron, a spokesman for Nashville police, said the shooter entered the school through a first-floor side entrance and moved from the first floor to the second, firing and killing multiple victims along the way. “There is video from the school that we are viewing now to try to learn exactly how all of this happened,” Aaron said.

When asked how Hale got into the building, Drake said: “All doors were locked and how exactly [Hale] got in is under investigation … It could have been far, far worse.”

I don't remember this much detail being given after other mass murders.

Here are the names of the victims via WaPo.

According to Nashville police, the victims are: Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs, and William Kinney, all 9; and Cynthia Peak, 61, Katherine Koonce, 60, and Mike Hill, 61

I'm seeing several reports stating the shooter identified as transgender.

When you see the type of weapons Americans can buy, it is mind boggling for the rest of us.
You only see this type of weapons here in Colombia when they show you pictures of the FARC.

The RW is running with this angle. The original source was someone no one in MSM seems to have heard of before.

Unfortunately this is what happens when GOP wants people to be armed with guns despite Biden wanting to have an assault ban. In this state, DeSantis wants an open carry law where a person does not have to a permit to carry a weapon.

Guns don't kill people - troubled and disturbed people kill people.
As long as the true root of the problem continues to be ignored (and as long as these killings continue to be sensationalized by the media), they will continue.
I guarantee this 100%.

Disagree. If that was the case mass shootings would be once per week here too. Not like we have magically erradicated mental illness in this country.
