by ashkor87 i really cannot envisage anyone but Sinner winning this.. wont even bother to talk probabilities...
by ponchi101 So Alcaraz, a 4 time slam champion that does well on a slow court (one of your favorite indicators for winners) has zero chance.
24 time slam champion, 10 time Aussie champion Djokovic has no chance.
The guy that won las year after dropping the first two sets in the final against an opponent that had played 3 five setters in a row (IIRC) has 100% chance of winning it.
Yes, he is the favorite. There is no question.
Nobody else having a chance is a bit too extreme.

by ashkor87 Sorry for multiple post...
by ponchi101 I don't think DeMinaur will do much. Sure, he is the fastest guy on tour on a hard court. But he lacks weapons. Compared to several other top 10, he is undersized and has very little power (for that level).
I would, at the very least, rank Zverev, Medvedev and Rublev above him.

Plus he hasn't held up physically at the last two majors - walkover to Djokovic at Wimbledon, and unable to muster much of an effort against Draper at the US Open.
by ashkor87 Certainly I would rank Zverev and Medvedev above DeM but do they have a shot at winning the whole thing? No.

to elaborate: i think the Ao will be too quick for Zverev - he will certainly do well at RG, where he gets more time to take his big swings.. Medvedev, yes, he has the game to win the AO, but hasnt been playing well lately.. maybe a bit demotivated by the rise of Sinner and Alcaraz? who knows? I reallly dont see anyone else.. DeMnaur is just a wild card for me - the crowd will be behind him, the fast surafec will suit him, and he is in form.. so 5% chance..
by ponchi101 I believe that Medvedev has reached some state of burn out.
He reminds me of those players in the past that played the villain and claimed they did not mind being hated by the crowd. And then, one day, it did mean something. Rios eventually vanished in a puff, Mac's antics made him very unpopular (we forget now that he is older). I think Daniil's attitude has scorched a bit, and he is unmotivated to go on court.
Compare that to Carlitos or Sinner. Always welcomed on court, so that makes it for a nicer start. Daniil does not have that on his side.

Solid candidate for Most Over Hyped Player ever.
And a good entry for Most Delusional too.
by Suliso Indeed, albeit do remember Donald Young.
by ponchi101 I don't think Young was as hyped as Tomic. But yes, another good entry.
by Suliso True, but Tomic had a bit more success.
by JTContinental Halep has pulled out of the AO qualies after experiencing pain in her knee and shoulder, and is now planning to come back in February in a tournament in Romania.

by ashkor87 A couple of us had foreseen Tsitsipas losing to Michelsen..M is a favorite of mine, so am happy..he loves to volley, which I like
by ashkor87 Can Fonseca win the whole thing? Shades of Kuerten! Becker too..he is good enough ..it would be awesome.
by Suliso Not happening, but the draw is friendly till the 4th round (Medvedev) or even QF's (Fritz).
