I don't know what Andreeva will do for the rest of the tournament, but her movement and hitting were top notch against Parks. Parks helped her out by playing terribly, but irrespective of that, Andreeva was very, very sharp.

Siegemund beat Shnaider, as predicted. Winning the previous week, far away, on a different surface - kiss of death.

If good Vekic shows up, she can fight. If Coco brings 18 DF's with her, you know every match is a tragedy for her.

good win for Vekic over Bouzas Maneiro.. watched a bit on highlights on the USO site - I always wondered why Vekic does so well on fast courts (of course she did well at the Olympics too but I thought that was abit of an outlier).. she has a very short backswing, almost none at all, especially on the forehand, generates pace using the opponent's power - good recipe for doing well on a fast court.
Sinner, too, has a very short backswing on the forehand, unlike Alcaraz - I imagine it helps him a lot on fast courts.

Oatapenko was always likely to lose early - she is the one who has no class (not in my sense) - saying all those stupid things about TT .. for no reason whatever that I could see.

It stemmed from Townsend hit a net shot and not making the common "I am sorry" gesture.
Kind of a silly thing to complain about, I sort of think.

the effects are already visible.. she is so cautious with her serve motion, she is not hitting it at all... just trying to spin it in. Not going to win the USO that way.

Kind of like yelling at the chair umpire because they awarded a player a first serve. It's like a there's a pattern here or something.

It was a bad set of tennis though.

The mods already took the post down once so why won't they take this down?

Yes, but if you are going to make that claim, back it up with some numbers. At least.
