I'm with Nelslus on this one. Why is there such a rush to put Sinner into the same category as the Big 3 after one breakout season? If they're doing this for him why not for Little Jasmine who based on her season should be counted as one of the greats of women's tennis. I don't think she'll make the level of Serena, Martina, or Monica but come on. If the word on the street is correct he could be facing a one year suspension, something none of the Big 3 men ever faced.

And yes they're dull! I've said here more than once that Sinner is my cure for insomnia. Iga will keep me awake for a set at least.

I know the ATP needs to market as best as it can. And Sinner is indeed the clear #1.
But if the plot is to compare him to players that are, at a minimum, 18 slams away, I don't get it.
And, BTW. His season was not as good as:
Jimmy Connors' 1974. 3 Slams, 93-4 win/loss, 15 Titles.
John McEnroe's 1984. 2 Slams, 82-3 win/loss (the male record percentage wise), 13 titles.
Guillermo Vilas' 1977 season. 2 slams, 16 titles, and won 130 matches (losing 15) without (expletive) WHINING ABOUT HOW LONG THE SEASON WAS AND HOW THE ATP WAS TRYING TO KILL HIM (I know, that was Carlos), playing all those matches with a Head Vilas Pro racquet that weighted almost 15 ounces.
Pete's 1995. 2 Slams, and, to me, the most heroic performance ever to win the REAL Davis Cup, playing in Russia on a court so soaked with water that the ITF Fined the Russian federation.

Yes, we are old (sorry, Nelslus, to include you), but that is why we remember. And Sinner is a fine player. But he is years away from measuring to the top greats.

Next thing you know, they are going to compare him to Martina's 1983.

In a hurry to over-rate Paolini..she is very good but not Tier1..which is why she could teach the finals of the French and Wimbledon but not actually win them...

There's little doubt that she was one of the top 5 players in 2024, so not sure how this is overrating her. The opinions given aren't really hyping her up to win any slams, etc. They're saying she will need to improve to get better results.

I'm a fan but I don't see Paolini winning a Slam. Because of her size she has to work really hard to cover the court. Then again, with the fluctuations in play by the women who knows?

Paolini is very good, as I said, but in any given major tournament, there will be at least 3 players better .. At the AO: Sabalenka, Rybakina, Coco
At the French : Swiatek, Sabalenka, Muchova, at Wimbledon: Rybakina, Sabalenka, Muchova, at the USO: Sabelanka, Coco, Pegula
Generally, if you are one of the 3 best, you can win. Not to nitpick (maybe I am), the article does say she needs to improve mentally.. really? mentally? there is nothing wrong with her mentally! She needs to acquire weapons, she doesnt have enough of those, and it is too late now, I would think.

The one player I am rating higher than I did last year is Pegula - she is hitting with more depth, if not pace - that is yielding results.. sometimes that is enough of a weapon.

A career season for her, but already showing signs of returning to reality in the back half of the year.

Now I know why Shelton and Carlos were at the Knicks game last night. Sitting court side of course.
