Granted, only two specimens have ever been identified but they are clearly distinct: Bernard Tomic (Delusorious Tomicus) and Nickolas Kyrgios (Molestus Kyrgyocus).
Both are best handled by simply ignoring them and focusing on more pleasant animals, i.e. mostly any other Australian species.
Is Kyrgios really TennisCentel on X? Sorry if this has been discussed elsewhere.

Who is the closest right now? Surprised that Serena fell one Slam in matching that feat.
Sabalenka has the best shot, being strong on every surface, but it won’t happen. Alcaraz could, too. He has a good start.

Just to match that record it means you will win 16 slams.
That's how high that bar is. If Novak could not, nobody will.

Federer/Roddick 2009 Wimbledon final was great for drama.
As a Roddick fan I grudgingly agree (also probably the worst I ever felt after watching one of my favorites lose.)

Whenever the greatest matches of all time are discussed the women are rarely mentioned. It seems that 2008 was an interesting year for Wimbledon.
I'm probably the only person who hasn't seen this years RG Final. I'm going to have to make time to do so.
I'm going to play devil's advocate here and ask if a match from 1980 can be considered best of all time when tennis has changed so much due to racquet technology and the change in surface quality. I can see it being considered best of it's era but not more than that.
Maybe..
but of course I am talking about the impression it made on me then...i haven't seen it later
Oh okay I understand.

The best match I have seen that no one talks about was Alcaraz-Sinner in the 2022 US Open quarters. Sinner played out of his mind until he reached match point and made me realize how ridiculous I was for doubting his future greatness.
In my opinion, the ball striking was better than Agassi-Sampras 2001, when Agassi played poorly in each of the final 3 tiebreaks, and Federer-Roddick 2009 Wimbledon, when Federer was not sharp. The quality mighf have been the highest I have ever seen until their Roland Garros final.

Perhaps we are indeed focusing too much on finals because J/C USO 2022 was truly off the scale. It was an awesome match.

Same I was so gutted that day and I can still see that BH volley so clearly in my mind, I'm sure he does too.

The great 3 set match is always going to get overshadowed by a great 5 set match. When you do watch the French Open final - it's on YouTube now - you'll be struck by how the quality of the play from players built through each set, and hit it's peak in the 5th set. A really good 3 set match is over when the great 5 set matches are just starting to warm up.
That being said - best women's finals in the past 20 years.
2005 Wimbledon Venus Williams def Lindsay Davenport
2012 Us Open Serena Williams def Victoria Azarenka
2025 Australian Open Madison Keys def Aryna Sabalenka
There really is no reason why women shouldn't play best of 5 at the end of the slams at a minimum starting with the quarterfinals.

Agree with the best of 5 starting with the QF for WTA
