Sabalenka and Zheng are far and away the the No. 1 and No. 2 players in the world on form right now.
And now she beat both of them. Hope you were going for a jinx.

I wasn't surprised Qinwwen made it to the Final. I was surprised that Cori did.

It was the opposite for me. Zheng is not far and away the number 2 player in the world, IMO

I watch Qinwen's matches and have since she first came on my radar. She's better but she still has those mental lapses that she often doesn't recover from. I think she'll compete a bit better next year when she's had time to rest and review what she accomplished in 2024. I think this was a revenge year for her after all the coaching shenanigans. Next year should be all about tennis.

I still don’t understand how she can land a serve in the box with that hitch

Every Monday the Athletic posts a "summary" of what's going on in the tennis world.

One buried nugget was that the semifinalists in Riyadh had to stay through the final or forfeit half their winnings from the tournament. That's crazy!
Would they really have pulled one of them in should zheng or Gauff have forfeited before the match started?

When Federer had to withdraw from the ATP Finals they brought in Murray to play an exhibition against Djokovic.

Were they going to withhold prize money if they didn't stay?
