Sinner is only the fourth man to reach all four GS finals in the same year joining Laver, Federer (3x) and Djokovic (3x).

And Budge ;)
(You were not around for that one).

That's how elite that club is. 5 players. And you have to go back to the 1930's to find the fifth one.
And if he wins on Sunday, he would have been 1 point away from a Grand Slam.

Sinner vs Alcaraz feels like a new version of Djokovic vs Nadal. I hope their own Federer and Murray show up as well. Only two people fighting for Slam titles is just too few.

Nope. One point away from a GS is winning 3 first majors of the year and having a matchpoint in the US Open. Sinner winning Roland Garros would create different reality, where he is not guaranteed to win Wimbledon and so on.

Well, yeah. It is always easy to look back and talk the "what if".
Had he won one of those points, he would have been really close. Anyway, I say Carlitos is in a good position to make the point mute.

I would think there won't be any way to censor the boos he will receive every time he's put up on the screen, enters the stadium, and leaves the stadium. The USTA can go eff themselves with this request.

USTA asks broadcasters to censor reaction to Donald Trump’s attendance at U.S. Open

The United States Tennis Association asked broadcasters of the U.S. Open to censor any protests or reaction to President Donald Trump’s appearance at the men’s singles final Sunday, according a memo reviewed by The Athletic on Saturday.

The memo was first reported by the tennis reporter Ben Rothenberg of Bounces.

According to the memo, Trump will be shown on feeds from the tournament during the pre-match ceremony, which includes the presentation of the U.S. national anthem, ahead of the final between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.

“We ask all broadcasters to refrain from showcasing any disruptions or reactions in response to the President’s attendance in any capacity,” the USTA said in the memo. The memo said Trump planned to watch the match from a suite as a guest of a sponsor, prompting additional security for the event.

“We regularly ask our broadcasters to refrain from showcasing off-court disruptions,” USTA spokesman Brendan McIntyre told The Athletic.

ESPN declined official comment. A person briefed on the network’s plans, speaking on condition of anonymity because they were not charged with running the production, said it planned to show Trump and acknowledge his presence as it usually would during sporting events, and to cover play on the court as normal.

Trump was booed during his last appearance, which came during his first presidential campaign.
This is Trump’s first appearance at the U.S. Open since 2015, when he was a candidate for president. He was booed then at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, during a quarterfinal match between Venus and Serena Williams.

Before he moved into politics, Trump was a frequent attendee of the U.S. Open. He had a suite at the tournament for nearly two decades, and gave it up in 2017 during his first term.

As Kamala said. What is surprising is the capitulation. And I think this is what she meant. How everybody with a little bit of power is supremely afraid of him.

Hard to know, but most likely they'll just keep the cameras on something else, and reduce the volume on the stadium sound. I wouldn't be surprised if television viewers here some booing, but can't tell where it's coming from, or what it was directed at.

Let them, there will 20,000 people with cell phones - enough of them will know what to do.

You can audibly hear the crowd audio be cut during the US Open national anthem bc they were booing Trump, lol.

It was cut as soon as they showed him, and again as the song closed.

Well done to Russell Fuller and BBC Radio 5 Live for completely ignoring the edict that broadcasters should not draw attention to any booing directed towards Trump at the US Open final.

If anyone can find a link...
