2 sets up now, and it's not looking like his control of the match will decline to the point of possibly losing the match.

It has been a good match. Reminds me a bit of the Wilander/Lendl 88 final, in which there has been few great shots, but strategically from Wilander, was great.

I'll admit. That RG final, I was not surprised. He has proven to be a very good clay courter.
But a USO Final, I would have not guessed it. He has worked hard, obviously. Also, a clean match. A bit under 3 hours, perfect preparation for Sunday.

So. ESPN obviously shows a small bio of both Alcaraz and Tiafoe. Each one read:
Alcaraz: WTA Ranking - 4
Tiafoe: WTA Ranking - 23

I guess somebody really is new at the production center.

I happened to watch the only previous meeting between Tiafoe and Alcaraz, in Barcelona last year.

Tiafoe won in straights and bossed him around on clay, but it means absolutely nothing because Alcaraz was ranked 117 in the world and had not quite made his breakthrough yet. I remember thinking the guy was darn good for his age, but I had no idea he would develop as quickly as he did. He played a pretty poor match that day.

Alcaraz's grunt tonight sounds like he is calling the ball out

First set was extremely good. It ended with a stinker, though.

A DF by Alcaraz in the tiebreak was the difference in the first set

Alcaraz blinked in the tie-breaker.
