These two really put on a show. Carlitos had a dip, but the quality in the 1st set was awesome.
Now, let's see Sinner do it on Sunday.

It seemed - and seems - to me that Sinner said "I'm sorry", then Alcaraz said "Don't worry. Don't worry, man - I cheer for you."

That match reminded me of Superman meeting his Kryptonite.
Alcaraz's body seems to have let him down, which is surprising, given that he always looked as if he was immune to mere mortal problems like that.

In the women's doubles semi-final being played now, Linette and Pera are up 5-1 on Leylah and Townsend. It looks like the magic has worn off. But they've come back in previous matches - so I wouldn't count them out just yet.
Linette and Pera are unseeded - but they did beat the strong team of Dabrowski and Stefani in the 1st round, though...

Well... Leylah and Taylor did it again - they came back from being down 0-5 in the 1st set to win the 2nd set 6-2, and then won the stupid match tiebreak thing 14-12.

All of their matches follow the same pattern: they play terribly for a set, they play excellently for a set (in either order), and they win it in a close match tiebreak.

They will play Pegula/Gauff in the Final on Sunday.

Still, very well done. So nice to see Petra (albeit, however very, very temporarily) playing much more up to her abilities.
Not so fast.
Yes, if I had $100 and I must bet on somebody, I am picking Elena. But Elena is not playing GREAT tennis. Last night against Pegula she was all over the place (her shots). She even started talking to her coach and team, OUTLOUD, turning around and making STRAIGHT EYE CONTACT WITH THEM, which, for her, it is the sort of mental meltdown that in distant times would have had people dressed in white come to the court and put her in a straight jacket and lead her to a room to be doused with a cold water hose. FOR HER (other players would have been applauded for proper manners).
If she gives Petra 39 UE's, Petra has a chance. And notice that she (Elena) is roughly averaging 20 UE's per set against good players (69 UE's vs Badosa, in three sets).
So, at the very least, put a little bottle of :champagne: in the fridge. You may get to use later in the day tomorrow.
LOL, first, I don't drink.

Look- of course, I'd love for Petra to win tomorrow. But, I just think Rybakina has too much of the killer instinct as of late. And- I'd be far more geeked if Petra could make a run like this at a Slam. (Not likely, sadly.) Still, It is just lovely to see Petra playing so well again.

Ok, buy the very best :icecream: you can then. ;)
For me, I like them both, but I am liking Elena a whole lot lately. But if Petra wins, I will be happy too.
And sure. Let's hope she can play like this at Wimby this year. Give herself a chance.
