As compared with the 52 mph they usually travel from Maria ;) .
I like her game. It's quite different and more creative than the usual.

It's the same situation in Charleston.

Yes - especially with Kasatkina and Jabeur. Not exactly power hitters...
But even Keys was playing it relatively safe vs. Kasatkina. Her shoulder was apparently injured, though, so that was likely at least part of the reason.

She won the title again, needing three sets vs Stearns.

Does being at altitude cause someone to be long winded? The trophy presentation has been going on for almost half an hour and they're up to speaker #4. The first guy spoke for almost ten minutes.

No. That is a very Colombian thing (and, I must add, Bolivians too).
When you give a Colombian a microphone, the words "I'll be brief" are only used in jest. For example, at the building I live, we have a yearly owners' meeting. Last year's it lasted 5 hours (I kid you not). So, this year I told them I would run it (somebody has to chair it) and I was able to cut it down to 3 hours (still, far too much).
I am very popular (now!) with my neighbors.

But, coming back, Colombians are simply extremely fond of long meetings. And long speeches.

Yes... having had the chance to get to know her and her family a little bit at a tournament last year, I can say that they are all nice, down to Earth people.
Among all the various young girls in that clip, her daughter Charlotte is the one whose arm she raised while posing for the photo.
And Charlotte is a good little player, too...
