by JTContinental Watching Andreeva for the first time against Coco. She does not have a professional level serve yet and isn't particularly tactical, which is the only reason Gauff is hanging in. Andreeva tears the cover off the ball and hits some amazing angles.

by Suliso It's not yet common for Gauff to play a younger opponent.

More importantly for the overall tournament Rybakina has withdrawn!!!

by JTContinental It sounds like she has a bad cold.

by Suliso Andreeva takes the first set in a tiebreak. This girl is really good...

by JTContinental A bit of a mental walkabout for Andreeva in the second set, and Gauff takes it 6-1.

by patrick Andreeva just saved two break points to hold to start the third set

by Suliso Gauff is still too strong for Andreeva. Could very well be different dynamics a year or two from now. Remains to be seen. :)

by JTContinental Gauff now up 2 breaks in the third set. Andreeva has become petulant, and it is really affecting her play.

Definitely some rivalry potential here

by JTContinental Meanwhile, Swiatek is up 9-0 on Wang

by Suliso Anyone watching that match? Has Iga simply turned on afterburners or is Wang contributing a lot by being particularly poor today?

by ponchi101 Iga back to her old form, or so it seems. She was not missing, points were very short. Together with Rybakina's withdrawal, I now say she wins this.
Of course I was not able to see the Andreeva match. While I will never approve of petulant behavior on court, the very top players don't take losing lightly. So if she got angry during the match, that was good. As Suliso says, it is still a matter of strength. She must be kept in mind for the future.

by Suliso I say Sabalenka is still a strong contender as well. If she goes down too to someone then indeed Iga as an overwhelming favorite.

by ponchi101 In the poll I said Elena, Iga and Mddmelle Autre. Now, and after a week of tennis, I say Iga by more than 50%, Autre and then Aryna.
