It's almost as if the WTA has absolutely nothing to do with this event.

I was just thinking the same thing! I don't understand the WTA disrespecting their own athletes like this.

Exactly. It has to be about prize money or future commitments.

The press in Poland is reporting that the WTA thought that their YEC would be played at the Plaza de Toros in Cancun. The problem was no one checked availability and they found out the arena was booked solid with concerts. That's why they ended up building the arena on the golf course.

During Jessica's post-match conference yesterday, it was very loud. It turns out that literally behind the wall there was an event for participants of the world freighter conference(?). She was answering questions between "Macarena" and other hits.

Pegula was probably three seconds from just losing it. What a disgrace.

World number 1, 2, 3, and 5 in the SF. Rankings do matter sometimes.

watching the highlights.. the wind is really too much.. never seen such a windy court.. Jabeur in particular is not even reaching the ball, it stops n front of her unexpectedly.. very sad scene. The management of the WTA needs to be sacked wholesale. Basic competence is missing.

Yeah maybe they shouldn’t play outdoors in hurricane season. This event is a joke. It’s sad because the organizers probably aren’t to blame but it makes them look terrible.

Why not? At least 30% of blame if not more could be attributed to local organizers.

Navratilova says Pegula versus Swiatek finals (I concur)- Pegula handles wind better becaus of her compact strokes, Swiatek because of her topspin

The weather and the short timeline aren’t their fault. Not sure about the site selection and how many options they had. The organizers had a losing hand.
