by ashkor87 Very impressed with Bejlek..first time I have seen her..looks a bit like MCNally..?

by ti-amie Bejlek is giving Leylah what for. Leylah was up 2-0 early and now she's serving to force a tie break in the first set.

by ashkor87 Court doesn't look particularly fast..Brisbane looked faster...

by ti-amie Tiebreak to decide the first set between Leylah and qualifier Bejlek

by ti-amie Tough fight but Leylah takes the first set 7-6(5).

by ashkor87 Parks serving very badly, struggling against Snigur .who is a junior Wimbledon champion herself...

by martini4me Krejcikova really had to struggle to defeat the Japanese wild card in 2:26. A lot of kvetching and back-and-forth with her coach.

by nelslus Re: Alycia's "win" today.....SO, at 4-4 in the third, one of the multiple deuces....of all things, Snigur appeared to be crying. I mean, sure, after John and I had been forever watching Alycia alternating break point aces with random double faults, errors into the bottom of the net, shrieking winners, and genuflecting to the Almighty, we wanted to cry, too. Nevertheless.....once Alycia crawled through that game, Snigur finished herself off. Serving with such a lack of pace that would have made Frankie Durr blush (google/wiki her), even Alycia was forced into smacking return winners, thus ending this atrocity. WHAT a treat!!!!! :gorgeous:

by Suliso Anisimova is back. Takes out #13 Samsonova who has been struggling recently.

by skatingfan I completely forgot that this started a day early this year. I thought I was clicking on a preview show when I saw it on tv guide. I guess we'll see whether any matches continue into the early morning hours now.

by nelslus Sheesh.....Down 5-6 in the fifth set, love-40, Seyboth Wild saves these and other match points......goes up double mini-breaks in the fifth set tiebreaker, playing absolutely fantastic tennis....and falls apart. Rublev obviously hung in there, playing well enough....but, again..... Sheesh!!!!!!

by JTContinental Prizmic's shorts are...form-fitting

Sort of expected ..Samsonova seems to be on the skids lately...

Expected...Samsonova off form lately

by JTContinental Wozniacki easily takes the first set over last year's SF Linette.

by Suliso This Prizmic guy is not completely useless.

by ashkor87 Every rally is 20 + shots....and the court is sort of medium-paced...Alcaraz will do well here then...

by Suliso That's what Djokovic likes too usually. Anyway I think it's also because Prizmic's style of play.

I'm finding the shorts on the men are definitely a bit tighter than usual, no complaint here.

impressive for her first match in a year or so. I didn't recognize her, actually. The face close-up, yes. From behind serving, not a glimmer.

by ashkor87 Anisimova looks to have added weight...hope it is mostly muscle ..?

In other words a typical Krejcikova match.

I only saw the end when Alycia was "smacking return winners" and wondered if she had played like that the entire match.

Thanks for the recap.

by Owendonovan Must be a new cameraperson working the Shelton Agut match, they just zoomed in on Agut's feet apparently not knowing that tennis players feet are not something to be looked at.
