well, unforced errors will happen on a slow court if you run out of patience early.. I imagine that is what happened with Coco..?
I do think, from the highlights I saw, she missed many opportunities to go to the net.. that is one way to win a point when you are not able to blast your opponnt off the court, which Coco anyway cannot and not against a good defender like Sakkari anyway.. Swiatek seems to have learned how to pound the ball until she gets an opening and only then moves in for the kill..

AI says 54 % chance for Sinner, 46% Alcaraz...I would say it is exactly the opposite..certainly Sinner can win but he has less than an even chance..entirely because it is a slow court,..Tommy Paul has a decent chance of beating Medvedev - 45%,?

Sakkari has virtually no chance at all of beating Swiatek..the only question is whether there will be a bagel..I think there will be...6-3, 6-0 though I rarely try to predict scores ..

There is one argument in favor of Medvedev (the funny one). IW is one of the tournaments he did not win yet ))

This is why I'm not fully on the Coco wagon. You can't lose to Sakkari in a big match, sorry. Once every three years, okay. It's tennis, it happens, Sakkari is one of the best players in the world. But you don't lose with UFEs and double faults. If she plays out of her mind, then she was better that day. But champions don't suck against lesser players this much.

Sakkari has clearly been playing better with Witt. I think attitude is helping her in these tight matches.

He is not expected to either !! Not powerful enough to hit through a slow court and not a natural volleyer..I would be surprised if he EVER wins IW

More or less surprised than when he won Miami on a similar surface last year? :D

He doesn't have the power? He is in the SF's. He can serve at 135 mph. When he crushes his (ugly) FH, he CRUSHES it.
How much more power does he need to show?

I suppose we can cite his relatively mediocre record on clay as evidence.

It is not 90s. If a player is top 5, he is a contender on any surface. He may be less or more dangerous depending on the surface, but the variation is 10% max.

It could be that she and Witt are in a trial period and she has to prove herself to him?

Cori making the semi's was a triumph of will. She played poorly most of the tournament and in the semi's ran into a highly motivated Sakkari.

It's not 90-ties for sure, but I don't agree that variation is only 10% on clay or grass. Records of top players outside the most legendary players of recent times don't indicate that at all. Swiatek on grass or Osaka on clay for example.

I wasn't talking about WTA.

It doesn't matter which tour. I only picked these two because on ATP tour most current players haven't achieved that much yet on any surface.
