by Fastbackss Coco seems very composed and businesslike.
Won first set 6-1.
Broke to open second set. Was broken back. Promptly broke back. I don't anticipate any further challenges. (Not sure if opining before morning coffee is a prudent idea)

Iga will roll her 2 and 1

by ponchi101 Agree. I don't see her losing more sets. She had her bad match, and she survived it.
Quite a fade from Arnaldi. 1 set up, up a break in the second, and then gone. Maybe still not strong enough for multiple best of five matches.

by jazzyg You guys must not have watched the last Swiatek-Gauff match if you think Iga will roll her. The scoreline was misleading. It was decided by 1 or 2 points in the 1st set.

Gauff is playing better right now than at any time in her career, and clay is her best surface. I do not think she wouid beat Swiatek, but she has a better shot than anyone but Sabalenka. Her backhand is incredible at the moment.

by ponchi101 Hope you are wrong. Meaning, I hope Coco beats her.
But Iga on clay is the best right now, and that rivalry is lopsided.

You're right, I didn't see their Rome match. It was that close?

Coco's career record on clay is 3% higher than on hard court, but in the last year, it's 12% better on hard court. You think clay is Gauff's best surface?

I'd put Rybakina over Gauff in likelihood to beat Iga. Rybakina just beat Iga in Stuttgart, and while it was indoor clay, it was still a big win, and on clay to boot. Gauff is a distant third in odds to beat her IMO. Coco's serve is still a weakness. Iga chews it up. And I doubt Coco believes she can beat Iga right now. Brute power beats Iga. Coco doesn't use hers enough.

by Suliso Hurkacz must be among the most anonymous top 10 players ever. I don't think I'd even recognize him on a street.

by mick1303 Alcaraz looks very convincing. ATM do not see anybody stopping him.

by ponchi101 Don't look now but Moutet is about to bagel Sinner.
Is there something wrong with Jannik?

He needs to have one big win sometime to become more recognizable. And the way he is losing to Grigor right now, it won't be today.

Who knows if that hip is still bothering him... Plus clay is probably his weakest surface despite being Italian.

Hubi asked Dimitrov on the changeover in the third-set tiebreak if he'd like to wait and change umpires! Evidently Hubi didn't like one of the umpire's calls. Grigor was about to serve for the match and Hubi asked if he wanted to "stay with the lady or change." Dimitrov said, "Change what?" and Hubi said "Change umpires!" As if that's possible. I didn't know Hubi possessed that kind of grouchiness. Love it.

He's a poor man's Berdych right now. Seems sweet but has not distinguished himself at all.

Ater he won Miami, I felt he was going to be more prominent. Then, he did make a Wimbledon semis. But I have no idea what is keeping him from reaching a higher level. He has monster shots and moves well enough.
Beyond my expertise.
