They just called play for the day due to darkness so this will be revised.

Sad to see the inevitable with Murray withdrawing from singles.

Vondrousova out, didn't see it. Injury from Berlin related I guess. Shame she didn't have a real chance to defend

I was tempted to take her today, but said: too soon.
Sorry for her. But that win last year will most likely be her peak (and a very high peak, but you know what I mean).

I was tempted, too, but remembered she hadn't won a single match on grass before last year. So easy to talk yourself out of every pick!

Mpetshi Perricard takes out Korda in four tiebreaks and a one-break fifth. He averages 140 on the first serve. His second was 130-ish. BG said it's the fastest secone serve he has ever seen.

GMP was a lucky loser. Korda was an unlucky seed. So sad - Korda was finally poised to make a run. He was originally drawn to play Davidovich Fokina.

Not sure how someone beat GMP in qualies.

In better American/big-server news, Shelton came back to win in 5.

GMP is 2.03 m tall, no wonder his serve great. Movement might not be.

Which means he can at least have a career like Karlovic

So much for the idea that Parks is any good on grass. :D

2 & 0 vs Wozniacki is pretty bad.
I only saw the last point. It was a truly sad display of tennis.

watched Samsonova beat Masarova, close up...masarova is really very good, better than i thought..good serve, good return, movement...Samsonova's serve is great but she blinked and choked when pressed..not a good sign..

Vondrousova the first defending champ to lose in the first round since Steffi Graf in 1994.

I'm exhausted by all the commentary on TV about how well Swiatek played against "big-match player" Kenin.

Last week, Kenin lost a qualifying match for Eastbourne 6-0, 6-1. She's in that stage Sloan Stephens was in a few years ago (with a Roland Garros runner-up finish on her resume to boot) where she is considered infinitely more dangerous than she really is. Yeah, she beat Gauff in the first round of Wimbledon last year, but she lost in the third round. The win against Gauff was the outlier.

Swiatek has an incredibly tough draw to get to the quarters. She's talented enough to get through it, but nothing she did today (other than not losing) told me anything about her likelihood of doing it.

It is sad how far Kenin has fallen. Is she still be coached by her father?
