Re: March Madness 2021
Virginia won two years ago - technically defending but clearly not the same team that won in 2019.
Still good on Ohio.

Re: March Madness 2021
As we begin Round 2, the Pac 12 is unbeaten so far with UCLA, USC, Colorado, Oregon St and Oregon advancing. They have looked very impressive so far. We can't actually judge the Ducks yet because they haven't played, since they advanced without taking the court.

Sweet 16! Congrats @Togtdyalttai
Also, your team just beat the likely #1 Pick in the NBA Draft. Just WOW! Congrats!

I can't say I expected Oregon State to make the Sweet 16, or even win in the first round. It's been quite the pleasant surprise.

Re: March Madness 2021
So for those of that went with Illinois, just a quick note to know that the committee botched the seedings badly and those of us who don't follow closely enough to be watching Loyola Chicago games would never know this was the real deal with them.
There are something called Ken Pom rankings. They do an analytics rankings of college basketball teams. They ranked the Top 8 teams in country when the season ended, of those 8 - 4 became #1 seeds, 3 became #2 seeds, and the other was Loyola Chicago that became a #8 seed.
So this was setup very poorly for Illinois to make a run when they had a team in the second round that likely should've seeded #5 at worst and Illinois losing in the Elite Eight round wouldn't be that big of a deal. And that's basically the matchup they got here. Great that Loyola Chicago rose to the occasion, pitiful that Illinois was hardly in it. But Illinois got screwed with having that mistake in seeding put in their bracket and seeing a team like that early has regularly been trouble for top seeds. Apparently this was mentioned after the selection show by several that follow the sport closely, but we didn't hear about it much because people were basically so happy about March Madness actually happening this year they didn't nitpick and make stories out of this kind of thing as much as they typically do. Of course we are hearing about it now and it doesn't look good on the committee.
Still sucks that your bracket is busted. No getting over that, but hopefully this helps a bit.

Re: March Madness 2021
UCLA beats Abilene Christian and they become the 3rd Pac 12 team advancing to the Sweet 16. The Pac 12 is rolling right now. Can USC and Colorado join them later this evening?

This total destruction of Bill Self and his Kansas Jayhawks is beautiful to see. Can barely happen to a more deserving guy.
