by ashkor87 Watching Tiafoe..I really fear for his arm in the long run ..his forehand is the ugliest I have ever seen, because it relies on sheer strength...not sustainable...

by ponchi101 It is the same FH as Khachanov's. And that has been sustained.
Also: wrong topic ;)

You should check out Jessika Ponchet.

by ti-amie Full Day 8 Schedule including juniors

by ashkor87 Given that Swiatek may polish off Samsonova in an hour, I hope to see a bit of Sinner-Paul before my day starts...it should be a good match, though the result is not much in doubt...of course S will win but the tennis will be high quality

i take it as a sign that players dont necessarily understand their own games very well.. Samsonova needs a slower court, not a faster one - she isnt quick enough to survive on a really fast court, but has enough power that she doesnt need help from the court. But she thinks she is better on a fast court. I dont think she will last long here, am a bit surprised she has come this far.

Statistically, she has a better record on grass and hardcourt than clay.

slow hard courts, yes.

by ashkor87 If you watch carefully, you can see Muchova tucking in a ball in her skirt.

by ashkor87 Muchova Paolini not a very high quality match thus far..first set..double digit ufes from both

by ti-amie The crowd is firmly behind Jasmine but I don't think today is her day. Muchova 6-3, 5-3 with Paolini serving to stay in the match.

by JTContinental Pegula quietly sliding through the draw—she’s my dark horse pick to win

by nelslus LOL, AND there shall be no 4-peat for Rajeev and Joe.

Cannot WAIT to get to the Open this Wednesday, so I can watch players from the range of I like+ them, to I am meh, to I cannot stand them. :yahoo:

OF course, I do love Taylor. IF she can at least win one or both of her doubles and mixed doubles matches in the next two days, I should be able to see her. :freaking:

There is a reason that at 30 yo she never reached slam semis. Her "ceiling" is not high enough. She has high ranking due to her high average level . But this does not win slams. During the second week one has to beat the best players. And not just best players, but in-form best players. Up to this point she never came close. But her, it's WTA. Best of three sometimes create fluctuations in a draw. Maybe she'll get lucky.

by jazzyg She came very close to beating Vondrousova in the Wimbledon quarters two years ago. Turned out to be by far Vondrousova's closest call.

by Owendonovan I hate nationalist chants like USA USA (which they're doing tonight) or Aussie Aussie Aussie oi oi oi. Takes something away from sportsmanship, to me.

by ponchi101 Don't get me started.
(Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Brasil, PERU...).

by ponchi101 Lovely two sets, then... sorry Tommy.

Bad way. It looks like a seagull with a broken wing trying to swim in molasses.

I was going to say it looks like one of those double jointed people showing tricks their body can do at a party, but ponchi put it best.

Basically, she overextends her arm on every shot.

That doesn't seem good.

Thanks.

by skatingfan Ponchet hits every shot open stance, and some how doesn't open her shoulder to swing - it's all arm - broken bird wing is a good analogy.
