In what way? Just because the tournament starts in a week you think we should know whose playing in it? This seems normal for the WTA.

It is normal for the WTA and it's stupid. The same site I use to get all the ATP entry lists used to provide the WTA lists until they cut off access to their information. I really don't understand how the WTA functions in the modern world.

The WTA website one week out from the start of this event does not have a player list, and that is normal for the WTA.

I would blame it on lack of resources / potential incompetence than any actual WTA decision.

Incompetence is where I would put my money. In the information age, where we expect to have information at our finger tips to not have something as basic as a player list available to promote an event that is upcoming is incompetent.

As I noted on the Rankings board, why would Swiatek play here? She has already gotten the most points she can out of the 'non-combined' group of Wuha/Doha/Dubai.. I frankly dont understand WTA's strategy here... Paolini isnt playing, she has also maxed out by winning Dubai.
Unless I am not understanding how WTA computes ranking...

maybe the WTA considers the one from the 'non-combned' to be mandatory, the other 'non-combined' are optional.. can count in addition? Then it would make sense for Swiatek and Paolini to play Wuhan.

How do you know Paolini isn't playing? She's on the list on the tournament website.

I doubt severely that any of these players are doing that kind of rankings math. I think ranking takes a back seat to fame and prize money.

Sad to see Collins is not playing...would have been practically her last...we will miss her- a solid and professional player who got the most out of her talents. Such players are necessary for the game to survive and thrive, they should be celebrated
