by Togtdyalttai Here's the place to brag your losers up the Empire State Building and sulk with the rats of the subway when they instead start winning. A pick tracker will be posted upon the start of main draw play, and scoreboards will be updated after each round.

by Togtdyalttai A pick tracker is up at contests/ycwj/2021-USO-YCWJ-Pick-Tracker.htm. Please check your picks to make sure I've copied them down correctly and let me know if I haven't.

by CyborgShoes Hi, much as I'd love to have the 4 points locked in already, my ATP first pick is Nava, not Navarro of the I-just-lost-to-Christina-McHale fame. Thx!

by Togtdyalttai Federex and ktothem1 both scored a perfect 20 in the first round of this contest. Deelighted2, IronMike, and Liamvalid are only one point behind them. There's a wide spread between haves and have-nots so far though, as over half of the contestants are under 15 points.

by dave g I'm not unhappy with my 15 points. I suppose that comes from keeping track of your winners and not your losers.

by PeterSkan I always enter YCWJ and worked out my team and ... what the heck happened? I must have missed the "submit" button. Crap! And this on top of forgetting to put in my Day 3 SP entries.

Oh - and picking Isner on my SKAN team ...

by ponchi101 Just perhaps an explanation:
in phpBB, IF you press submit on a topic AND somebody else has also submitted a post while you were composing, the board will inform you that a new entry has been posted AND will ask you to confirm your post OR read the new post. This is done because in conversational topics somebody's reply may be of interest to the new poster.
So maybe you submitted while somebody else did, and, as I have done myself (that is how I learned about this), went to a new post so your post was not really submitted.
Sorry to hear that you are having such a tough time during this USO, PeterSkan.

Yeah - that's probably it. Seems quite likely during the contest entry windows when many folks could be posting simultaneously.

by Togtdyalttai Federex has posted this contest's second ever (I believe) double 20 to open up a 5-point lead after the second round. In the wings waiting for a slip-up is deelighted2 with 35, and CyborgShoes and Liamvalid with 32.

At the other end of the scoreboard, Vexchaps seems to be the likely wooden spoon winner, but they still have one pick remaining. If that pick, currently represented by Iga Swiatek, is eliminated in the third round, we could have our first single-digit wooden spoon winner of the year.

by ponchi101 By now in this contest, I am just happy that I am not the wooden spoon of the contest. What a lousy set of picks.

by Liamvalid I was totally unhappy with my picks when I posted them, so to be sat in the top half of the table of a joy for me

by Togtdyalttai Federex lost half their picks in the third round, but continues to lead. Deelighted2 remains 5 points back, with no one else even close to the top 2.

With Swiatek's win, Vexchaps clinched the contest's wooden spoon with a total of 7 points.

by Togtdyalttai Federex's lead continues to shrink and is down to 4 after the fourth round. A handful of contestants still remain alive due to high-confidence picks remaining. Among them are the remaining contenders currently near the top: deelighted2 and Ribbons.

by the Moz I managed 2nd place for the French and 2nd last for the US. Yin and yang...

by Federex Looks exciting..I think others' pick are better positioned than mine to the path of wooden spoons..

I hope Ribbons' first pick come true. Lol

by Togtdyalttai Federex's lead over deelighted2 is now down to 2 and they're probably not the favorite to win the medal at this point. Let's drill down into the scenarios:

If Daniil Medvedev loses in the men's final, deelighted2 will be our champion. Barring that...

If Leylah Fernandez loses in the women's final, Ribbons will earn the medal.

If Maria Sakkari loses in the women's final, ktothem1 takes the contest.

Fernandez defeating Emma Raducanu in the women's final and Medvedev winning the trophy will result in a tie between Federex and deelighted2.

Felix Auger-Aliassime defeating Medvedev and Raducanu or Aryna Sabalenka losing in the women's final will mean Federex is the only champion.

Medvedev winning the men's final and Raducanu or Sabalenka losing in the women's final will also give it to deelighted2.

I think that covers everything. It's the most complicated situation at this point in the contest in a while, so let's see who can come out of the jumble victorious.

by Togtdyalttai Going into the finals, deelighted2 is in a prime position. Only one combination of outcomes will not result in a medal for them. Let me reiterate the scenarios still in play, substituting in the information we now have:

If Novak Djokovic wins the men's final, deelighted2 will be our champion. Barring that...

If Emma Raducanu wins the women's final, Ribbons will earn the medal.

If Leylah Fernandez defeats Raducanu in the women's final and Daniil Medvedev wins the men's final, Federex will tie with deelighted2.

Now let's look at the possible wooden spoon winners. In addition to deelighted2, patrick also picked Norbert Gombos, who will be the men's wooden spoon winner if Djokovic wins. If Medvedev wins, that dishonor will go to Pablo Carreno Busta (his second in a row!), whom no one had the nerve to pick.

For the women, Federex, IronMike, and Ribbons all took Yaroslava Shvedova, who will be the last place finisher if Raducanu wins. If instead Fernandez is the champion, it will be Alison van Uytvanck.

by Togtdyalttai Congratulations, Ribbons! A final pick tracker and scoreboard are up. A recap will be posted in a separate thread.
