2021 TAT NFL Challenge || Intro and Week 1
Posted: Mon Sep 06, 2021 4:55 pm
Hello and welcome to the 2021 TAT NFL Challenge! We'll be doing a confidence pool once again this year.
In case you need a refresher, or if you want to join, it's not too difficult. Suppose there are n games in a given week. You rank your confidence in a pick from 1 (least confident) to n (most confident).
If you don't wish to read any further, you don't need to; the rest of the introduction is mainly for transparency purposes.
As was the case last year, you can rank a game before Sunday whatever you want, but if you so happen to miss a pick for one or more of those games, they will be given the lowest possible weights. In addition, you may not change the weight of a game after it has started. For example, suppose there 16 games total on a given week, 1 on Thursday, 2 on Saturday, and 13 on Sunday. You forgot to pick the Thursday and Saturday games. Then those three combined would default to being worth a total of 6 points, and you could weight the remaining games from 4-16 points. Here's an example of how you might post your picks:
Philadelphia 1
Pittsburgh 5
Indianapolis 2
Tennessee 6
San Francisco 11
New England 3
New Orleans 9
Jacksonville 14
Baltimore 16
Kansas City 10
Seattle 4
Arizona 7
Carolina 8
Chicago 12
NY Jets 13
LA Rams 15
This will extend into the playoffs as well, though scoring may change from last year. Maximum scores for playoff games will not increase, but they may decrease.
One more note: there is a somewhat high probability that some games will be suspended/cancelled this year. Don't worry about it for this contest: the maximum weight for a given game will be the number of games played in a given week, not the number of games scheduled. So if you weighted a game 16 and that game was played, but two others were not, the game you gave a 16 would be pushed down to 14, and all the other games' weights would be decreased as well to fill the 14 remaining weight spots.
Now on to the games! Picks for Dallas at Tampa Bay due at 8:20 PM ET on Thursday, September 9th. All others due at 1 PM ET on Sunday, September 12th.
Dallas at Tampa Bay
Jacksonville at Houston
LA Chargers at Washington
Seattle at Indianapolis
NY Jets at Carolina
Minnesota at Cincinnati
Arizona at Tennessee
San Francisco at Detroit
Pittsburgh at Buffalo
Philadelphia at Atlanta
Cleveland at Kansas City
Green Bay vs. New Orleans in Jacksonville
Denver at NY Giants
Miami at New England
Chicago at LA Rams
Baltimore at Las Vegas
