I'd put my money on Osaka.

Navarro toughed out a close match vs Tsurenko. Emma's movement was incredible again. I noticed it in Hobart, where she won the title. She extended some points at the end that were insane. I feel like she needs to create more in the rallies to take another step forward.

....AND Stearns blew at least 4 match points against Sabalenka. Served for the match in the third set at 5-4, 40-0. Blew that, had at least one more match point- blew that. Broke Sabalenka for another shot at serving out the match. Didn't do it. (Missed the tennis at that point). VERY ironically, Stearns saved three match points in the the third set tiebreaker. Only to play two bad points to lose the match.

Yup. Navarro was down a break in that third set. AND- agreed- Navarro is going to have to learn to be more aggressive and proactive, if she wants progress, and to truly be any kind of contender. (Not that this will happen, of course.) :gorgeous: :gorgeous:

She is basking on the laurels? Satisfied?
Indeed, odd.

This is what I get for going to bed early in third set.

These type of matches tend to either temporarily galvanize or break a player.

Will be curious how Stearns and Baptiste do going forward in next few tourneys

Swiatek has a tough time with Noskova in the beginning (a break down), but eventually run away with the match.

I turned it on when Noskova was serving to stay in first set. Had a couple errors.
Iga won that and every future game. Went quick!

THAT is a champion. Shaky start against the player who beat her in Melbourne but got it together and steamrolled.

I'd put my money on Osaka.

I might in a few months, but Osaka hasn't beat anyone good yet in her return, plus Coco is 2-0 against her.

On the other hand Coco struggled with Burel. Close to 50-50 perhaps? Would like to see it.

Court is too slow for Coco...she never does well on slow courts.
