Okay, about that third set...

Really at the end of the 2nd Nardi started amping up the pace.

Set the tone for the third where Novak had few answers

In the last game, Nardi was clearly nervous. But Djokovic let him off the hook with 2 UFEs. Bad ones. That was shocking. I think it helped Nardi relax and serve it out.

Up break early in 2nd. Tough service game. Break point - djokovic hits serve. Nardi thinks it's out - just reaches at it. Doesn't really move but return goes in. He then starts moving. Djokovic stopped. Wanted a hindrance. Didn't get it.
Nardi quickly held.
Curious to see what happens and if Novak can settle down. He is on edge of tilt
I'm missing something.
Isn't this one of the tournaments with fully electronic line calling? So, if you don't hear the OUT call, you should keep playing, and not stop and call for a hindrance because your opponent was also confused.
Right?

And, BTW.
Losing to Sinner at the Aussie. Well, that was bound to happen sooner later. But losing now to a LL at a tournament that favors you so much...
Can it be the start of the end? (I know, watch him now clean Miam i and the next three slams, but one can dream, no?)

Zverev vs DeMinaur is a good test case. If speed of court matters, Zverev should win.

I just think of what Federer said during his last years - most days you can play like you did at 30, but you start to have more and more frequent days where you just can't muster that level of play.

Djokovic hasn't been passed the 4th round at either Indian Wells, or Miami since he did the Sunshine Double for the 3rd time in a row in 2016. His best Masters events are Rome, Cincinnati, and Paris over the past few years.

I noticed this as well. And it's not just at Stadium 2.

Is this because both Novak and Rafa are out?

That seems to be the consensus. I haven't seen a Mixed Draw on the site though.

The owner of this tournament is Larry Ellison who is worth $140 billion, which apparently isn't enough. Wholly unsurprising considering he's one of these people.

Larry Ellison, the billionaire co-founder and chairman of the software company Oracle and the biggest backer of Elon Musk’s attempted Twitter takeover, participated in a call shortly after the 2020 election that focused on strategies for contesting the legitimacy of the vote, according to court documents and a participant. The Nov. 14 call included Sen. Lindsey O. Graham (R-S.C.); Fox News host Sean Hannity; Jay Sekulow, an attorney for President Donald Trump; and James Bopp Jr., an attorney for True the Vote, a Texas-based nonprofit that has promoted disputed claims of widespread voter fraud.
