But Karen Khachanov and Tim Mayotte did not make this list...Neither did Fernando Gonzalez

Uhhhhh.....Dementieva got a Gold medal AND a Silver medal at the Olympics in singles. :gorgeous:
And an Olympic Gold was her whole career goal.

I think MS 1000 with a 96 draw (currently IW, Miami, Madrid, Rome, Shanghai) > Olympic silver, but not for smaller draw ones.

Different times, too. If you were an American, you were almost mandated to play S&V tennis (unless you were Connors). Mayotte, Annacone, both Gulliksons, Tim Wilkinson (Serve and Volley PLUS Return and volley tennis; try to do that!).
He was the last generation that was used to playing 5 strokes per point tops. Therefore, not need for a lot of lateral speed.

I remember Bud Collins kept predicting Mayottw would win Wimbledon at the start of the tournament. Don't think he ever got past quarters.

Made the semis in 1982, where he was destroyed by Connors.
