I was expecting Mirra to win. But the score is indeed surprising.
Coco fluctuates quite a bit; but she likes clay and it gives her a nice, high bounce to play with. Her extreme FH grip is not affected that much.

Apparently Coco lost only 1 point on serve in the second set!

I was only scoreboard watching, but Mirra was serving at 5-4, 40-15 before collapsing for whatever reason.

Swiatek no longer is the favorite to win Roland Garros. In fact, I'd be surprised if it happened, and I'm even more surprised to be writing that.

She was lucky to win it last year. Osaka had her dead to rights before getting tight, or the what's wrong with Swiatek narrative would have started much earlier.

I see a strong correlation between her decline and the debacle with doping suspension. Which happened a lot later. I'm convinced that she got a raw deal with how it was handled. Now I'm actually worried that Sinner will have a similar slump.

Agree that she is no longer the favorite at RG.
But I have buried other players way too prematurely, only to have to eat my words on a nice slice of toasted bread. I will not be surprised if she wins it again,
But I know give her less than 50% of a chance. Way less.

Agree that Naomi had her. But she then crushed everybody else.
And that is the nature of the sport. Let's not forget that in January, it went backwards. Swiatek held MP against Maddie, but did not convert. And we are not invalidating Maddie's Aussie just because of that.
