I saw Bouzas Maneiro play a couple of times during this tournament. She is an aggressive take no prisoners type of player. It'll be interesting to see if Mboko can neutralize her the way she did Cori.

Mboko played goddess like tennis in that first set.

She has real potential.

I kind of clocked thus Tauson win over Iga

Tauson takes the match.
What a strange tournament. But Tauson seems to be coming back to what we thought she would be.

I have become quite the contarian on women's tennis, but in my view there is a much better chance that Swiatek's only tourney win this year will be Wimbledon than her going on a dominant run.

Sure seems like her performance in London was an outlier.

I don't remember EVER watching Swiatek play and thinking she looked awkward. Out of position, yes. Not in the right postal code, yes. But tonight Tauson just made Iga look really, really awkward. The last game especially, IIRC.

When you win a Slam, and the last three sets you won were 6-0, thinking you are going into a dominant phase was not unreasonable.
You know me. If she wins no more this year, fine. I won't mind it.

Svitolina through 6-4, 6-1 against a cranky out of sorts Anisimova.

Shelton is through.

Once again Fritz is playing the late match although they may have done him a solid because I think it was his girlfriend's birthday yesterday.
