It is not that Walton beat him. It was the quality of the game that Medvedev brought.
I said it in the Toronto topic: Medvedev is done. He is suffering in every match, the moment it gets a bit tough. I really would not be surprised if he retires in a couple of years.

Sabalenka vs Rybakina
Swiatek vs Alexandrova
Kessler vs Bencic/Tauson
Osaka vs Gauff

all look like good matches.. looking forward to them.
Third quarter looks the hardest to call, with Pegula, Tauson and Bencic all present..i certainly think it will be Bencic..simply because her style suits a fast surface..
Sabalenka may not even get there, has to beat Leylah, may not do it.
From what I have seen thus far, court doesn't seem very fast...just above medium..they must have redone the courts as well..

I don't think his athleticism is up there with the top players. It used to be normal to decline around 30 in the pro tennis world, which I imagine he has to be pushing.

I did a quick Google search and it looks like she goes by Meggie, will be a senior at Virginia this fall, and will be Emma's doubles partner for the forseeable future.

Could be. I also say that when you have such weird strokes, starting to miss the precision of hitting the ball may come earlier in life.
But the way I saw the match, it was totally mental. Sure, you had the expected whining and exploding towards the coaches' box, but he also seemed unable to accept that it was a tough match, and that Walton was not going away. So HE went away.

Sabalenka has got to be the most brainless player in a long time. She makes Mary Pierce look downright cerebral.

Raducanu just evened the third set at 4-all by holding serve in a game with 13 deuces.

Sabalenka held, now 5-4. TV shows the third set has already been 67 minutes long. Was there an injury timeout (or maybe it was a heat break before the set). That seems very long, even if that one game was 15 minutes.

The Raducanu vs Sabalenka match was horrific. Sabalenka played brain dead tennis gifting Raducanu points while making horrible decisions when it came to returns or serving. Yes she won 7-6(3), 4-6, 7-6(5) but she obviously came out with no coherent strategy. If Raducanu was a different player she would've won the match.
