Re: ATP & WTA rankings
Don't see any reason why she cannot, but predicting slam winners is tricky. About a decade ago, Bencic, Leylah, Svitolina and several others were spoken as future slam winners. Yet, they haven't.
A recent example is Andreeva. I still say she will, but we are waiting a bit.

Re: ATP & WTA rankings
First of all these are only live rankings and it could easily be that Djokovic or Zverev end up as #3 in two weeks and second who do we think is the third best player (all surfaces) currently?

Re: ATP & WTA rankings
I say the third best player is still Novak. And then Zverev.
And thanks for pointing it was also live rankings.

Re: ATP & WTA rankings
Certainly not Musetti. I won't be surprised if Machac beats him tomorrow
Medvedev, Zverev, Djokovic, Fritz are all ahead of Musetti. Even Paul is better

Re: ATP & WTA rankings
I would estimate Musetti has to minimum reach SF's here (= beat Djokovic in QF's) to actually end up #3. If he does that his claim would be a lot more solid than right now.

Re: ATP & WTA rankings
Really it could be any of the players #3-#7 (Musetti, Djokovic, Zverev, de Minaur, Fritz) who do best amongst them that gets #3. They're all within 265 points right now. Or if we get a surprise winner amongst the next group of players they could hop up to #3.
I'm not sure anyone is claiming much on live rankings in a tournament other than us

Re: ATP & WTA rankings
Fodder for the "Rankings matter" conversation.
For the first time in the Open Era, the top six players in the world on both tours reached the QF's of a slam. Shelton, seeded 8th, also made it.
