Re: 2025 RG Day 13 OoP & Discussion
Order of play for the Thursday matches was posted even earlier, at 18:45 Wednesday.ashkor87 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 06, 2025 5:14 pmok.. my bad.. but this happened yesterday also, I didnt see the board when I looked for it.
It did not happen yesterday either. The first reply by another member was at 9:49 PM.
Let's say you were unable to find them, but they were there and in the correct forum.

My problem with common sense is how broad it is. Your common sense is not my common sense, as you can see by the example that we are in disagreement about this.jazzyg wrote: ↑Fri Jun 06, 2025 3:59 pm OMG, ponch.
Musetti definitely should not have been defaulted for kicking a ball that happened to hit a linesperson at a slow speed.
Djokovic should not have been defaulted for what he did, either, for that matter, although his action was significantly worse than Musetti's.
Rules are rules, but sometimes common sense needs to come into play.
If you hit a lines person or a ball kid when you are hitting a ball in play (for example, you were stretched and on the run), ok, that is accidental. Any other situation in which you touch any person on court with a ball, you get defaulted. That is my common sense.
Remember when Nalbandian was defaulted at Queens? In that one I guess we won't disagree, and yet, no ball was in play.

If we'll have umpires only to announce the score, we may as well replace them with another machine. Which, I think everyone would agree, will be a shame. So they do need critical responsibilities. And making such decisions is one of those responsibilities. So we will rely on their common sense in such occasions. And if majority will agree with their decisions, we'll consider them good umpires.ponchi101 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 06, 2025 7:58 pmMy problem with common sense is how broad it is. I've made a poll to check what majority here thinks about this particular case.

Speaking of that, when was the last time a Slam had a number 1 and 2 in both finals? French if answer is one of the other 3 Slams?

I'm not predicting a scoreline for the Gauff-Sabalenka final, but Gauff will be in double digits for double faults. They come in bunches when she gets tight--she had three in the first-set tiebreak alone against Keys--and the way Sabalenka crushes returns, Gauff definitely will get tight.

Re: 2025 RG Day 13 OoP & Discussion
Djokovic said, after the loss, that this could have been his last match at RG. Obviously, thoughts like that after such a loss should be taken with a grain of salt, but more indications that he is also very near the end.

If Djokovic had connected on that forehand down the line on his third set point in the third set, you would have been spot on because the fourth set would have gone quickly in Sinner's favor.
