It was fast and not too painful. GS #5 for Iga. Given that she's only 23 and totally dominant on clay I expect at least 5 more Slam titles.

Some more stats about Iga:
- her 4th RG title, now equal to Henin and only behind Graf (6) and Evert (7). Actually a bit surprised the record is only 7 for women
- 22/4 record in finals
- fifth title of the year and match record of 45-4
- already qualified for WTA finals
I'd not rule out Sabalenka catching her during the reminder of the season just yet, but she'll have to be absolutely outstanding to do so.

Re: '24 RG Day 14 Order of Play & Discussion
-13th woman to win 5 or more Slams in the open era (last was Sharapova)
- also 13th woman to win a GS after saving a match point during the tournament
- first woman to win 3 straight RG titles
- 4 titles at RG in 6 appearances
We often talk about parity in WTA, but I don't see any parity at all on clay. Elsewhere a bit more, but hardly a free for all. I wonder if Osaka will contend again or this match with Iga was a one off.

Henin won three straight at RG, 2005-2006. Iga might become the first to win 4 or 5 straight (if Chrissie didn’t).Suliso wrote:-13th woman to win 5 or more Slams in the open era (last was Sharapova)

You're right - Seles did that as well (Evert did not). Nobody has won four straight, though.

Re: '24 RG Day 14 Order of Play & Discussion
Actually, Evert did. The only reason why Evert has only 7 French Open Titles is that all of the best players did not play the French in 1975-1977. Australia was also GS only in the sense that it was the AO, but the best players did not go down under to play until the early 1980s (and it was moved from December to Jan.).
Evert won in 74, 75, 79, and 80 for 4 straight FO that she played. She also had a 125 match win streak on clay.
It seems like time is going backwards towards 1984 . . .

It does not work this way. Nadal did not play Wimbledon in 2009, but nobody sane claims that he won Wimbledon two times in a row.

Re: '24 RG Day 14 Order of Play & Discussion
Players playing World Team Tennis was another factor with many players not playing Roland Garros during these years. They made a lot more money than they would have going to the French Open during those years. Truth be told, many of the best players also did not play Roland Garros during two of Chris' title win years- 1979 and 1980. In 1979 Wade was the 2nd seed, and in 1980, Billie jean was the 2nd seed. Many years before, Wade had a little bit of success on clay- she won the Italian Open in 1971, and BJK won the French Open in 1972- somehow beating Evonne in the final 3 & 3, she won the Italian Open in 1970, and won some other clay titles. Nevertheless, by far, clay was not their favorite surface. And, in their primes, they would barely have won games against Chris on clay. There were some excellent clay court players who played the French in 79 and 80- but, nowhere near Chris' level. Almost definitely, Chris would have won the French from 1977-1980, even if all of the players had played. But, we shall never know- and mick is quite correct that Chris cannot be given credit with consecutive tournament wins, when she skipped two years.
There were years in the 1960's pre-Open where few non-Aussie players played the Australian Open. It was a ton of travel and stress for them with very little reward. Then, the Aussie also didn't get a lot of top male players playing from around 1976 until 1983- same for the women from around 1976 until 1980. During these years, Wimbledon and the US Open were the biggies and more prestigious by far. Then, from what I can recall, more attention was being paid to the importance of trying to win all of the Slam titles, and the Aussie and French tournaments upgraded everything, including prize money. World Team Tennis also diminished some- albeit, it is still alive today. During those years, I both loved watching World Team Tennis matches, and was very much bothered that the French and Aussie tournaments were throw-aways for too many years. I love tennis history a lot, so I was so glad when all four tournaments again became big deals.

Re: '24 RG Day 14 Order of Play & Discussion
If Sabalenka wouldn't have lost, Iga was on course to beating 3 other Grand Slam holders. As it is now - still formidable: she has beaten current Wimbledon and USO champions in the same draw. I'm wondering if someone has done better in the slam. In the regular tournament I remember Sharapova once beaten Azarenka, Kvitova and Stosur, who were holding AO, Wimbledon and USO at that moment. But has anyone done this in a Slam? It is not a trivia question, I don't know the answer.

She is special on clay. And may, some years from now, be able to claim GOAT on the surface.
Her admiration for Rafa certainly paid off.
