Re: French Open 2021 Women's Draw
Wertheim is picking Alona to upset Kenin. I agree, that is a tough match to start the tournament. Still, it is Ostapenko and we know that she can flame out at any moment.
Biancia may have to deal with Maria Camila in the second round. I am calling that upset now (if Bianca decides to play it).

Bianca has to get past Zidansek first.
Azarenka, Konta & Bencic are potential first round upset victims.

Konta still qualifies as a victim? Seems like forever since she's had a good result. Had a good summer 2019 (SF French, QF W and USO), then semi'd Acapulco and Cincy in 2020. Other than those results (which were big points hauls), she hasn't won back-to-back matches in about 2 years.

Definitely, she's a seeded player. If you had a good 2019, then you're still pretty well ranked and Konta is one of many that will continue to coast off those results for at least a few more months.meganfernandez wrote: ↑Sat May 29, 2021 2:35 am

Konta is a strange one. Apart from that semi final run here, she has never made it past the first round. Her 2019 semi was so unexpected-but she has shown us that she can win here now so I agree it will still be a minor shock if she loses. But I’m still considering her for a first round SP pick too!

Cirstea will beat her, though, in the first round! she has beaten her before.. at the USO, no less..Liamvalid wrote: ↑Sat May 29, 2021 6:37 am Konta is a strange one. Re: French Open 2021 Women's Draw
Saying Cirstea WiLL beat someone is a dangerous game! I have been kicked out of many a predictions contest by picking her to beat lesser players, but then she doesn’t turn up. This is definitely the kind of match to avoid. Looking at her recent results though I would agree she is the most likely winnerashkor87 wrote: ↑Sat May 29, 2021 10:14 amCirstea will beat her, though, in the first round! she has beaten her before.. at the USO, no less..Liamvalid wrote: ↑Sat May 29, 2021 6:37 am Konta is a strange one. i would say Konta and Bencic are almost sure to lose.. Azarenka, I am less sure.. actually pretty concerned about Muguruza too.. Kostyuk is a future champion...
