I'd put my money on Osaka.

I might in a few months, but Osaka hasn't beat anyone good yet in her return, plus Coco is 2-0 against her.
Their record is 2-2. (Including that 2019 US Open match where a gracious Naomi encouraged Coco to speak to the crowd after Coco's 3 & 0 loss.)

Osaka has to get past Mertens first, and you just never know with her. She can be a tough out, even still.

Griekspoor just submitted an excellent entry in the racket smashing contest after losing the first set tiebreak to Zverev.

I was really enjoying this Woz-Volynets match.
Katie held on at end of second set - seemed to have some momentum. Almost broke to open third - didn't - and then the rout was on.
Going to bed with Woz up 4-0 to see if I can enact a TAT level jinx

True, but Mertens doesn't have the game to bother Osaka ...she is basically a steady player with no weapons, like Pegula...

Editor note - didn't work.

But I will say I HATE when players have the same kit.

I think Pegula hits a lot harder than Mertens. Mertens's weapons are consistency, court sense, athleticism, intangibles - plus a great backhand. I think those things can trouble an off-peak Osaka. Mertens can open the court, and she can volley.

Bronzetti carrying on the longstanding Italian tradition of grunting after the ball has bounced on the other side of the court.

Well, Osaka clearly isn't fully back yet..we should not have expected it...
Kerber's come-back has been impressive too, beating good players I really expected her to lose too. The court doesn't even suit her much .

I wonder if Sakkara's delts are one of those genetic physical anomalies that run in her family. I know lifting is a big part of her fitness, but those delts are big for any athlete.

Djokovic loses first set.
Up break early in 2nd. Tough service game. Break point - djokovic hits serve. Nardi thinks it's out - just reaches at it. Doesn't really move but return goes in. He then starts moving. Djokovic stopped. Wanted a hindrance. Didn't get it.
Nardi quickly held.
Curious to see what happens and if Novak can settle down. He is on edge of tilt
