Aryna, Elena, Ostapenko. Who else can wail the ball?

That's a very short list, isn't it? For some reason she has a lot of trouble with Elena, much less with Aryna. Ostapenko even more so, but that would be SF's in this case. I'd be super surprised if she gets that far.

Sure. Agree. I was really asking. Who can hit her off the court, on clay? Positioning tennis won't do, as she is fast enough to get to almost everything.

She is Naomi Osaka. Her credentials are sterling. But, can we say she choked?
I'm not sure, I didn't see the match point. Did she make a terrible unforced error, or just miss a little, or did Iga just play better on that point? I think Naomi just hasn't been in that position lately, and she was playing the best of the best. Not a bad loss, even with MP. She'll take away the positives.
Suliso wrote: Wed May 29, 2024 5:55 pm Wow, Swiatek about to lose to Osaka on clay! That's a shocking outcome if you ask me.
I wonder what the odds were, for betting, for Naomi to win. This would have been the biggest upset of the year. Bigger than Nardi beating Djokovic, even though Naomi has Slams.

I can't remember a French Open with this many consecutive rainy days to open the tournament.

It's a rainy and cold start of the summer here in West-Central Europe. The North and the East is baking, though. Today it was far hotter in North Finland than in Switzerland. That surely doesn't happen very often...

2016! I was there and had tickets for one of the few dry days of the first week.

Global Warming, world-wide.

For the past few years, Chicago has had MUCH more mild weather with our winters. Which for me is extremely pleasant- as long as I forget about the world ending.

It's the same in NYC. We now have a rainy season instead of a winter season.

,,,,OK, wait just a second here. You think.....YOU'RE the dummy?!?!?!?!

I mean, was it YOU?!?!?!?! who watched almost all of that third set....until, after numerous death-defying break point saves, Osaka got broken at 5-all in the third set. After having one match point, and a kazillion times being within 2 points of winning. Which, at that point, rather than watch the last game, I threw all of our 3 TV's in Lake Michigan. (AND we live on the 16th floor. So, I was mildly perturbed). :gorgeous:
