She likely will. Someone much mathier than me on the WTA Live Ranking site figures out the the point total needed to lock down a spot each week--this week the qualifying cut line is 5350 points and Coco is currently sitting at 5304.

Winning that one match or the tournament? :D
ponchi101 wrote: Sun Sep 28, 2025 5:48 pm I stopped keeping track of her retirements. By now, it is accepted. Her body can't deal with this sport for more than a couple of weeks.
I was thinking about her for biggest Loser, then was worried she may just wind up WD'ing before tournament starts.
I figured Raducanu would win the match vs Bucsa. She didn't make it past Pegula.

I didn't get to see it either, but this little snippet from the WTA website may be a clue as to what transpired...

"Swiatek, who committed 70 unforced errors..."

people are just tired after a long season, maybe.. Alcaraz has pulled out of Shanghai, after complaining about the schedule. This court is so unforgiving, you have to hit the ball a million times to get it past your opponent, Swiatek must have gotten frustrated..she is human, I guess.

I really would like to hear from the old guard, playing 20 tournaments a year, and flying in commercial airlines, about the length of the season.
And I do mean it. Not being sarcastic. I would love to hear what Vilas would say about the long season nowadays.

How many of those flights were domestic within the US? There used to be a lot more tournaments in the US, and players would go to Europe for a few months or less, and then back to the US.
